Many may not know why and how kidney disease occurs and what are its symptoms. If you can find out about kidney problems in time, you can avoid complicated situations.
Kidneys help filter out toxins from the body and excrete them in the form of urine. High blood pressure, diabetes, infection, hereditary, stones, random drug intake can cause kidney disease. According to Human Organ Transplant Center Bhaktapur, about 3000 people suffer from kidney failure every year in Nepal.
Swelling of the body, decreased urination, excessive urination, loss of appetite, nausea, loss of blood in the body, whiteness in the body, darkening of the body skin, difficulty in breathing, chest pain, etc., may be some kind of kidney related problem . That's why you should have a kidney test from time to time to see if your kidney is healthy.
Kidney disease can also be one of the reasons for high blood pressure at a young age. Even when there is 90% damage in the kidney, the concerned person does not know about it . The patient has no pain. There are no other symptoms.
What to do to avoid kidney disease?
Blood pressure and diabetes should be checked regularly and kept under control. Healthy people should also undergo a health examination at least once a year and get blood and urine tests done.
Drink plenty of water and don't take random medicine . Drinking less water can damage the kidneys. But drinking too much water at once and not drinking water for hours also affects the kidneys. That's why you should drink little by little and often.
Consuming moderate diet, regular physical exercise and keeping body weight under control. Get in the habit of getting information from the right sources. Consuming too much red meat is also considered harmful for the kidneys. Drinking alcohol is even more dangerous.
It is appropriate to increase the amount of green vegetables, fiber-rich food . Overuse of pain relievers is another cause of kidney damage .
renal What to do if you get sick?
After the failure of both kidneys, the treatment is transplantation . If transplant is not possible, dialysis is done. However, dialysis cannot give a new life to the patient .
For organ transplants, the government has made a law that allows people with brain death to be transplanted, but in the 8 years since the law was made, only 5 people have received organs. Ironically, even though there are people dying of brain death daily, organ donation has not been done. Lack of public awareness about brain death is the main one among the various reasons for not donating organs. In view of this, recently Syasya: Samaj Lalitpur and Lalitpur Metropolitan City Ward No. 16 have started an awareness campaign about brain death and organ donation after death. 21 people have announced organ donation in the program.
Currently, there are more than 21,000 waiting for an organ transplant across the country due to failure of both kidneys. At least 8 organs can be transplanted, including lungs, kidneys, liver, pancreas, heart and small intestine of a brain dead person.
Based on a conversation with Dr. Pukarchandra Shrestha, Director of Human Organ Transplantation Center Bhaktapur.
