Saroj Dhungel, health journalist of Gorkhapatra daily, has been honored with 'Sudarshan Devkota Memorial Fifth National Health Journalism Award-2082'.

Former Health and Population Minister Padam Giri honored Dhungel on Sunday. The award was handed over on the occasion of the 18th death anniversary of late Sudarshan Devkota. The foundation has given the award in collaboration with the Health Journalist Forum.  In the

program, former health minister and UML leader Padam Giri said that health journalism is a big part, and one should be fluent in their subject. He said that only journalists can motivate the society to move in the right direction, urging them to use their pen against the injustice in the health sector. In the

program, the president of the foundation Dr. Sudha Devkota recalled that her father spent his whole life in journalism and said that the role of journalists in the society is important. He said that it is necessary for journalists to distinguish the truth and be responsible and write news after detailed study. Dhungel, who won the

award, said that the award has given him more encouragement to start a campaign to make the society healthy through health journalism.

Acting President of Health Journalist Forum, Buddhi Katel expressed his gratitude for establishing the award in collaboration with the Health Journalist Forum by covering the category of health journalism.
