Daily up to 500 patients arrive for treatment. Last financial year, 1 lakh 15 thousand patients were treated here. 750 people were operated. At the time of corona infection, 115 beds were brought into operation at Dhaulagiri Hospital by gathering resources at the local level.

Even now, up to 10 of them can be treated in the ICU. There are also 4 NICUs. Various operation services including maternity, orthopedics, hydrocele are also regular here .

Trauma patients are also being treated as 'Hari Khadka Trauma Unit' for the last three years. As Madhyapahari Lokmarg covers 140 km and Kaligandaki Corridor occupies 36 km in the district, many accident patients also come to this hospital.

There are 28 doctors including 16 specialists and 150 employees including all departments and administration. Some of them are run by the Hospital Management Committee, State Government and Student Scholarship Agreement. The hospital, which is providing so many services, still got permission for only 50 beds.

Even in the year 2067, when the Ministry of Health recognized the Zonal Hospital from the then district, the ONM was not done. Even at that time, the hospital was allowed to operate from the available manpower. Now 115 beds are operating here. But the management committee is running dozens of times to get the approval of 100 beds.

The hospital management committee and the political leadership are repeatedly pushing the Ministry of Finance and Health for the approval of more beds. "We are making a lot of efforts, but we don't want to go ahead with this issue saying that the money will create a liability," the hospital's chief medical superintendent said. Kiran Tiwari said, 'Since the secretary of the ministry does not want to take this matter to the minister, we are deprived of approval.' The expansion of the hospital's services has been reduced due to the concern that some posts will be added during ONM and the responsibility will be transferred to the government of Nepal.

According to Naresh Kandel, a member of the hospital management committee, despite the approval of 100 beds by ONM, the hospital has planned not to ask for the budget so that the government becomes liable. "Even now, 115 beds are in regular operation," said Kandel, "we have also done a lot of work from internal sources." If permission for 100 beds is granted, the hospital management committee is preparing a medical college including staff nurses. "We could not move forward due to the legal provision of not even getting permission for a medical college until 100 beds are approved," Baglung Municipality Chief Basant Kumar Shrestha said. .'

Gandaki Province Health Minister Krishna Pathak also said that he will try to get permission for 100 beds soon. The mayor is an ex-officio member of the hospital management committee formed by the Gandaki government. Shrestha said that the Baglung Municipal Council has also decided to initiate the establishment of a medical college and manage the required land. 20 to 30 people with mental illness also come to the

hospital every day. But because there is no post of psychiatrist here, the patient has to be referred to Dr. Tiwari said. Tiwari said, "We are in dire need of psychiatrists, besides radiologists, physicians, anesthesiologists and paediatricians." The hospital now has three blocks. Apart from that, the hospital aims to build two more buildings through the master plan. Amar Thapa, chairman of the management committee, said that when the building is completed, it will be a big hospital in Gandaki province.

'Many diseases can be treated here by making the service more efficient, but the general decision stopped the work,' said Thapa, 'if the state does not take a broader view, we will only become a referral center.' He said .
