Addressing the blanket distribution program organized by Safe Motherhood Network Federation of Nepal in Kavre's Dhulikhel on Thursday, she said that the government should prioritize the protection of safe motherhood and reproductive health rights.
Stating that the right to safe motherhood and reproductive health has been included in Nepal's constitution-2072, she said, 'The government should prioritize the rights related to safe motherhood and reproductive health mentioned in the constitution, the local, state and federal governments should also prioritize this issue.' While distributing, Foreign Minister Rana said that she started campaigning for safe motherhood after the death due to childbirth pains.
'When I gave birth to my child, I was in a situation where I was going to die or live,' she said, 'I and my child survived, but I joined this campaign to see if other women with the same pain could survive. '
Arguing that pregnant and post-natal women are in a special situation, she said that if we can help them in nutrition, etc., then the country will prepare qualified citizens. Member of Assembly of Bagmati Province Tirtha Lama appreciated the role played by the network in establishing safe motherhood and reproductive rights. The Safe Motherhood Network Federation of Nepal, which is the founding president, will help 1,090 pregnant and postpartum women from 6 local levels affected by the flood and landslide in Kavrepalanchok district. Blankets have been distributed. Lakshmi Khanal of the network informed that blankets were distributed to 316 of Panauti Municipality, 217 of Namobuddha Municipality, 230 of Bethanchok Rural Municipality, 153 of Roshi, 113 of Bhumlu and 71 of Temal.
