Uttam Prasad Poudel of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSWP) has been elected in Kaski-2 by getting four times more votes than his nearest competitor. He received 31,911 votes, while the second-placed UML candidate Rashmi Acharya received 7,493 votes.
UML has been winning consistently in this constituency since the past. This time, Poudel got 60 percent of the total votes cast. In this constituency, Madhav Prasad Bastola of the Nepali Congress received 6,500 votes, Hemjung Gurung of the RPP received 1,643 votes, Hem Bahadur Thapa of the NCP received 1,276 votes, and Kushal Gurung of the Ujjaya Nepal Party received 1,201 votes.
The elected Poudel was previously active in the RSWP as a media person. 52,519 votes were cast in this constituency, which has 84,134 voters. Of the votes cast, 1,844 were invalid. There were 17 candidates in the fray, including 12 parties and 5 independents.
