There has been a change in the daily life and lifestyle of women who were involved in activities like housework and fairs. After the women of Chitikhola located in Bhanu Municipality-9 of the district made some changes in their regular work, their routine has now changed.

 

After beautifying village houses and operating homestays, not only the lifestyle of women, but also the identity of the village has changed . After the operation of Greenhill Village Community Homestay, which was established in 2076, there has been a change in the routine of women who are limited to housework.

"We didn't even imagine that tourists would come to the village", said Sushila Pulami, secretary of the Greenhill Village Homestay Board of Directors, "we are limited to farming and household work, and now we are busy welcoming guests with that work". After the operation of the homestay, we have experienced that not only our daily life has changed, but the identity of the village has changed.'

She said that the appearance of the village has changed six years ago and now. "Remembering the initial days of the homestay operation, a lot has changed now", she said, "We who did not even know what a homestay is, now we have moved towards economic empowerment from this homestay." The homestay, run by the daughters-in-law, serves locally produced food to the guests.

Sita Saru said that she has received training for capacity building, hospitality, cooking of various food dishes for homestay operation. She said, "We serve local produce, organic and home-made dishes to our guests." Previously, this product was distributed to relatives and neighbors as it was too much to eat by themselves, now this product has become a source of income.

Similarly, Dhanakumari Saru Magar, chairperson of the homestay management committee, said that after the operation of the homestay in the village, there has been a big change in the lifestyle of the local women. She said, 'After the operation of the homestay, not only financially, but the women here have also advanced in independent and leadership roles.'

'Greenhill Village Homestay has provided the guests with the opportunity to live in a peaceful and natural environment and has also moved the women here to the path of economic empowerment.' homestay. Geeta Adhikari Pandey, the founding member of the homestay, informed that about 2,500 guests have been welcomed so far. She said, "Guests return after being impressed by the village lifestyle, food and local culture." The members of the management committee take turns to tour the village and surrounding tourist destinations and show traditional dances to the guests. She said that after the guests started coming to the village, the village was also made clean and tidy.

The homestay here provides one night stay, local Raithane chicken meat, traditional food, evening meal and breakfast for a package of Rs 1,250.

Guests coming to this homestay can observe agriculture, listen to the sounds of various birds in the natural beauty of the forest, enjoy the beautiful clean climate, hike to Chokkot, Gadhimai, see Chandra Jharna, Shiva temple and tea plantation. A beautiful view of Manaslu mountain can also be seen from this homestay.

This homestay can be reached after traveling a distance of about 20 km from Dumre Bazar in Tanahun to Dumre-Bensisahar Motorway under Prithvi Highway.
