The National Film Awards presented by the Film Development Board have declared Naveen Chauhan's 'Wool Sweater' the best film this year. President Ram Chandra Poudelal distributed the awards to the winners at a program organized by the board at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday.
In the National Awards presented in seven main categories, Naveen Chauhan was declared the best director for 'Wool Sweater' and Miruna Magar was declared the best actress. Similarly, the screenwriters of the film 'Paran', Yama Thapa and Deepak Prasad Acharya, and Neer Shah, were declared the best actor for the same film. Babu Shrestha and Nahakul Khadka were awarded the best cinematography and editing respectively for 'Koshedhunga'.
The best indigenous film 'Indira Dhime Maicha', Jury Protsahan Bimochan Dawadi (Jhari Pachiko Indreni) and Ana Sharma (Ramita Ko Pirati) and the special film award 'Nakchhong' were presented.
Actor Madan Krishna Shrestha was presented with the Dirgha Sadhana Samman and a cash prize of Rs 375,000, while journalist Dinesh Sitaula was honored posthumously. In addition, Bishnu Gopal Shrestha, Menuka Pradhan, Dr. Singh Gurung, Prakash Subedi, Avinash Vikram Shah, Rohit Rumba, Angela Subba, Laxmi Bardeva, Binod Serchan and Shankar Pandey were honored posthumously.
