Arthur Miller's play 'Death of a Salesman' dominated the 79th Tony Awards held at Radio City Music Hall in New York on Sunday evening, winning a maximum of six categories. Similarly, 'Shmigadoon', 'The Lost Boys' and 'Ragtime' came in second place, winning four awards each. 'The Lost Boys' and 'Shmigadoon' were nominated in 12 categories.

This new version of 'Death of a Salesman', based on the 1949 stage play by Scott Rudin, is directed by Joe Mantello. It stars Nathan Lane, Laurie Metcalf, Jonathan Keck, Michael Washington, Tasha Lawrence and Christopher Abbott. Mantello won the award for directing and Metcalf won the award for actress in a play for 'Death of a Salesman'.

Arthur Miller's play has been staged in 6 countries and has been adapted into 10 films. In 1949, this play won the prestigious Pulitzer Prize. In India, director Feroz Khan also adapted it and staged it in Hindi under the name 'Salesman Ramlal'. In which Satish Kaushik also acted.

'Shmigadoon' also won the Tony Award for Musical (Song-Drama). 'Ragtime', which was nominated in 11 categories, won the award for Best 'Musical Revival' and registered four awards in its name.
'Liberation' won the award for Best Play. But ironically, despite being the best play, 'Liberation' could not win any awards in other categories. 'Cats: The Jellical Ball', which was nominated in nine categories at the 2026 Tony Awards, won three awards.

Pink hosted the Tony Awards ceremony, which was broadcast live nationwide on CBS and streamed by Paramount from Radio City Music Hall.
