Five Russian films are scheduled to be screened at the ninth edition of the Nepal International Film Festival (NIF).

The organizers have stated that NIF will screen five Russian films under the ‘Russian Film Days Nepal 2026’ program at the festival to be held from Chaitra 19 to 23.

On the second day of NIF, on Chaitra 21, the films ‘August’, ‘The Challenge’, ‘The Dino Family’ and ‘All Colors Girl’ will be screened at the Russian House in Kamalpokhari, informed Chairman KP Pathak.

Pathak said that the ‘Russian Film Days’ program has been organized at NIF with the aim of promoting cultural exchange between Nepal and Russia and expanding the relationship between Nepali filmmakers and other industries.

‘This program has been included so that Nepali viewers and filmmakers will have the opportunity to learn about Russian films, art, technology and expand their relationships with the makers there,’ he said.

Pathak informed that it has been decided to screen a Russian film at NIF on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Russia.

Another Russian film, ‘The Poet’, has also participated in NIF’s international film competition. Directed by Felix Umarov, ‘The Poet’ is based on the life of the popular Russian poet Alexander Pushkin.

This film will be screened at the Chhaya Center hall in Thamel on Chaitra 23 at 11 am.

According to the organizers, 88 films from 40 countries will be screened at NIF, along with 10 interactive programs on different topics.
