The Bhaktapur Film Festival has begun with the screening of 'Gaun Wae Bato' directed by Naveen Subba. The festival has been organized by young filmmakers of Bhaktapur at the Nepal Vocational Academy in Bhaktapur.
24 films will be screened at the festival, which will be held till Saturday. Films such as 'Aina Jhyalko Putali' directed by Sujit Bidari, 'Song of Clouds' by Ankit Poudel, 'At Another Winter' by Kiran Shrestha, and the documentary 'Dhorpatan' directed by Rajan Kathet and Sunir Pandey are being screened at the festival. Coordinator Smit Giri said that the festival will screen features, documentaries and short films.
The director duo of 'Dhorpatan', Sunir Pandey and Rajan Kathet, were present on the first day of the festival. Film Critics Society President Samipyaraj Timilsena, producer Anup Paudel, cinematographer Babin Dulal and others were present at the program. Producer Paudel, who started the 'Ekadeshma Film Festival', encouraged young filmmakers to continue this festival. 'We filmmakers in Bhaktapur would always talk about whether there was a film community in Bhaktapur.' This festival started in Bhaktapur - which is a happy thing. This festival has started in a culturally rich city,' said Paudel, 'Now filmmakers from Bhaktapur should also be seen, so that their films can be seen.' Director Kathet said that he also joined the festival to encourage this effort of the youth group.
Coordinator Safal Vaidya said that this festival was started in Bhaktapur considering it a necessity because Bhaktapur is our birthplace. 'Bhaktapur is our birthplace.' We wanted to do something in Bhaktapur. That's why we started this festival," said Vaidya. Vaidya is a film student. The festival is organized by a group of young filmmakers including Kiran Kilambu, Safal Vaidya, Smit Giri, Bikesh Prajapati, Saksham KC, and Praveen Takki. Kilambu is the director of the festival.
