The seventh 'Nepal Cultural International Film Festival 2026' organized by the Nepal Culture and Film Center has been concluded.
The festival, which was held from Magh 16 to Magh 16, screened 85 films from 39 countries. Awards were distributed to various films at the closing ceremony organized at the Nepal Police Club in Bhrikutimandap. The national feature film category saw the award-winning film 'The Secret of Radha' directed by Suvarna Thapa. Jitu Nepal won the Best National Actor award for 'Jwai Saab', while Suraksha Panta was declared the Best National Actress for 'Kosedhunga'. Saroj Poudel, the director of 'Kosedhunga', won the Best National Director award. Narender Mainali, the cinematographer for 'The Secret of Radha', won the Best National Cinematography award. Sachin Ghimire won the Best National Writer award for the documentary 'Into the Mist'. The short film 'Drishya (The Light of Eyes)' received the Best National 'Special Mention'.
Jury Special Mention went to director Patrika Ghimire's 'What Grows in Thari Male's Vegetable Garden?' and director Dabbu Chhetri's 'The Change'. Similarly, director Daniel Gadal's 'Inar' won the Best National Short Film Award, director Lava Pyakurel's 'Girls Rewriting Destiny' won the Best National Documentary, director Govinda Prasad Dhakal's 'Silent Scars' won the Best National Children's Film, director Aastha Shrestha's 'Rang Sabai Gulabi' won the Best National Women's Film and director Sunilbabu Pant's 'Ajima and Six Genders' won the Best National Cultural Film.
On the international front, Indian director Jayan Cherian's 'Rhythm of Damam' won the Best International Feature Film, and Chinmaya Siddhi of these films won the Best International Actor Award. Australian director Maulinath Ganguly's 'Kuppa' won the Best International Short Film award, Lithuanian director Giedre Geneviciutea's 'The Head' won the Best International Feature Documentary award, and Israeli director Howard Rip's 'Gimpel: The Fool Returns to Poland' won the Best International Short Documentary award.
Several awards were also presented in other categories at the closing ceremony.
