The re-release of the film 'Theri', starring South Indian 'superstar' Thalapathy Vijay, has been postponed.
While Vijay's upcoming film 'Jana Nayagan' was in the news, it was announced that 'Theri' would be re-released in theaters on the occasion of Pongal festival. But the release of the film was postponed a few hours before its release.
The re-release of 'Theri' was postponed even before its official release, according to the film's producer V Creations. The same banner is also producing Vijay's film 'Jana Nayagan'. 'Theri' was scheduled to release on January 15, 2026. The film was planned to be re-released on the occasion of its 10th anniversary.
In a statement issued on social media, V Creations said that the release of 'Theri' has been postponed due to the request of the producers of other upcoming films. It is said that this decision has been taken to avoid any problems in the release schedule. So far, the new release date of 'Theri' has not been made public.
'Jana Nayagan' has been facing continuous problems with the Central Board of Film Certification. The board has objected to some scenes in the film, saying that they may hurt religious sentiments. The producers of the film have filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking interim relief. The petition is expected to be heard on January 19.
