Writer Vikas Subedi is now set to make his debut as a film director. He has announced the production of a new film, ‘Shirjara: Song of Grandmother’, and informed that he will be making his debut as a film director.
Vikas is the writer of ‘Prakash’, ‘Pujaar Sarki’, ‘Mahabhoj’ and the upcoming Dinesh Raut-directed film ‘Kumari’.
According to Subedi, ‘Shirjara’ will be a joint production of Nepal, America and Poland. Kingdom Network of Nepal, Facture LLC of America and Fikza Films of Poland will collaborate in the production of the film.
The film will be produced by Subash Bhusal (Nepal). Subash is also the music director and producer of ‘Pujaar Sarki’. The executive producer of the film is Chris Beruti (America) and it is said that the post-production work will be done in Poland. The pre-production work of the film is currently underway.
The film will go on floors from February 2026. Earlier, there was talk of Vikas directing ‘Yani Maya’. But he withdrew from this film. The reason for the postponement of the film has not been revealed yet.
Vikas said that he has been preparing to enter the field of direction for a long time. "I was preparing for it from the beginning. This time I dared. I will tell something new and different," says Subedi.
