What you should know

Actress Nisha Adhikari has hinted that she will now enter active politics. Adhikari, who has joined the recently formed Dynamic Democratic Party, says that she is ready to become a direct candidate in the upcoming elections.

She said that she is confident that the people will trust her and take her to Parliament. 'The people have now understood what they want. They have also understood what will happen if someone who understands at the policy level reaches them. As a result, they will understand what our party's agenda is. If they agree on what the ideas are, they will win me and take me to Parliament,' Nisha said in Kantipur Television's program 'Sarokar'.

She had earlier said, 'Our dynamic democratic party did not come after the Gen-G movement. We had been doing homework for 2 years. At that time, preparations for 2084 were in mind. However, since the elections are a little ahead, we had to increase the speed. I think all citizens trust us, and ultimately our goal is to provide service.'

She also said that she did not want to enter politics just to become an MP under the proportional system. She said that she would rather serve the people by contesting elections than going through the proportional system. 'If a better candidate than me comes from the party, and if a woman leader comes, I am ready to sit in the party building.' If necessary, I am ready to stand up, from whichever constituency I am ready to stand up,' she said, 'Earlier, I was thinking of standing up as an independent. Now, I will definitely contest the election.'

Although Nisha is associated with the arts sector by profession, her studies were always related to politics. Her inclination towards politics is also visible in that. She has a bachelor's and master's degree in political science. She is currently pursuing an MPhil in 'Conflict, Peace and Development'. She also plans to do her PhD in that field.

'Politics has always been a subject of interest to me. Since I am a daily sufferer, I have been raising my voice in the manner of civil society that it should be reformed. I have always spoken about the issues that are needed,' she said.

Recently, she became a central member of the 'Gatisheel Loktantrik Party'. She entered politics because she wanted to do politics of integrity. She feels that a good politician should be able to provide good service to the people.

Although there has been a debate for a long time that party politics should be corrected, Nisha says that now it has become an obligation to open a new party. 'I say opening a party is an obligation. Everyone should do their own business. If there was good governance, equality, and prosperity, we would not have come. We came after practicing after 2 years,' Nisha said.
