The fifth edition of the 'Lalabala Kathmandu International Children's Drama Festival', which included artists from 12 countries, has concluded. 50 artists participated in the festival.

Festival director and theatre artist Tanka Chaulagain said that artists from different countries were seen together on the same stage, just as a garden looks beautiful with different flowers. ‘When they were seen together in one place with the costumes and flags of their respective countries, it looked like a flower garden blooming with different flowers,’ he said. Artists from Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Iran, Thailand, UK, Japan, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Latvia, and Brazil had arrived in Nepal to perform at the

festival. The participating artists from different countries performed plays in their own languages ​​and cultures. On the first day of the

festival (Kartik 17), four plays were shown at the Imperial World School premises along with the inauguration. The performance by UK’s ‘Abstract Kids’ was aimed at young children. This play was staged five times at the festival.

The chief guest at the inauguration ceremony was Anita Lama, Deputy Mayor of Budhanilkantha Metropolitan Municipality, Harihar Sharma, former Vice Chancellor of Sangeet Natya Academy, Prof. Abhi Subedi, and guests including actors Akanksha Karki, Prabhakar Neupane, Ram KC, Manju Giri, and others.

On the second day, the UK's performance 'Abstract Show' was highly appreciated by the audience. Similarly, the Iranian performance 'Empathy' garnered praise.

On the third day, the play 'Chocolate Biscuit' by Sri Lanka's Red Apple Theatre International Gathering was staged. Joy House Collective Nepal staged 'Machhako Rangin Sapana'. These two plays were also liked by the audience, children, and their parents.

On the fourth day of the festival, Valley View School's play 'Ichha vs. Time' and a play from the Czech Republic were staged from Nepal. On the last (fifth) day of the festival, plays from India and Slovakia were staged. Lalabala, a leading children's drama organization, is organizing this festival every year.
