For the past few years, actor Anmol KC has been haunted by the same comment, 'Now Anmol's films have stopped running'. Some have criticized his declining film career at the box office, linking it to business, saying that his era is over. Some have attributed it to Anmol's stardom, while others have attributed it to his acting!

Anmol's film selection has not gone unquestioned. But, this time Anmol has surprised the film world by making a strong presence at the box office. His film, which has been in the screens since Tihar, is climbing the box office ladder in such a way that the production side is hoping to 'top' it this year with 'Jerry on Top' in terms of commercial heights. Will Anmol reach that top spot at the box office or not? That will be a matter of waiting for the production team, his fans and Anmol himself!

But let's move on to the story of Anmol's character Jaiveer Singh Rana trying to reach the top in the film. In particular, Jaiveer alias Jerry (Anmol) has been losing everything to his father since he was a child. That is why Jerry hopes that one day he will 'beat' his father in some way or the other. One day, Jerry suddenly realizes that there is one journey that his father has not been able to do so far - climbing Mount Everest! Jerry embarks on a journey to climb Mount Everest with the aim of defeating his father by climbing the highest peak in the world. The ups and downs that Jerry faces while climbing that peak are at the center of the film. However, the film does not only tell the story of an ambitious character who wants to climb Mount Everest. It tries to include the two girlfriends who are connected to him, their love triangle, their relationship with their father, and their friendly uncle.

Dulip Regmi has captured the beautiful views of the mountains and the picturesque views of the 'trekking trail' to the Everest base camp in the film. There are many dazzling scenes in the film, but those scenes do not come across strongly in the narration of the story. With an easily predictable story, weak storytelling, and boring dialogue, 'Jerry on Top' does not capture the beauty within the story.

In particular, the 'adventure' genre should be a subject made for Nepalis. There are many original stories that Nepali filmmakers can tell in the Himalayas and 'adventure' genres. Moreover, love stories could have been a strong link to introduce this genre to the audience. However, since director Gurung is immature in his grasp of visual language, 'Jerry on Top' does not reach this potential. For example, director Gurung has failed to establish many important scenes in the film. For example, Jaybir reaches the Everest base camp with great sadness. However, Jerry, who grew up in the comforts of Kathmandu, cannot find the way to the highest peak from there.

Meanwhile, someone says, 'You can't climb Mount Everest, you've just photoshopped the mountain climbing.' Immediately after that, in the next scene of the film, Jerry is seen taking photos inside the studio. How does this character suddenly return to Kathmandu from the base camp he barely reached after spending lakhs, enduring the words of his father and many others, and measuring a long trail? The film does not show a credible reason for this. How can the character compromise with his big dream? Since this kind of topic cannot be established in the film, the audience cannot easily believe in these scenes.

Moreover, the love triangle is not well established in the film. During the journey, Jerry falls in love with the guide Pema (Jasita Gurung). How does Jerry's love for Pema grow in his heart when his childhood sweetheart Shreya (Aanchal Sharma) is still in his life? The scene also does not establish this topic in a strong way. The audience has to believe in their love. Even though the triangular love between Jerry, Pema and Shreya cannot be established, the conflict that this relationship can bring in the film seems superficial. Moreover, this relationship is also shown in the film in a way that can be easily guessed.

The most annoying thing about the film is the dialogue used in it. In the film, the actors speak the dialogue in such a way that they are not speaking in their normal daily lives, but standing on a stage. Nowadays, colloquial dialogues are used even in the stage.

However, in this film, the dialogues spoken by the actors themselves sound annoying. Which distracts the audience from the main essence of the film. There is some balance in the dialogues captured by actor Kedar Prasad Ghimire. The dialogues he speaks throughout the film, the comic dialogues, keep the audience laughing. However, the acting of the main actors Anmol, Jasita and Aanchal is not that good, that balance . If these three actors had worked harder in their acting, the audience would have been automatically hooked on the film . In terms of VFX, some remarkable work has been done in the film . Although the mountains appear dark in one scene while climbing Mount Everest, the VFX art is strong in most of them .

Director Gurung is the new storyteller that the Nepali film industry has got from 'Farki Farki'. Coming to the second film, it seems that Director Gurung has tried to tell the story by adopting a different genre . However, Director Gurung, in addition to the bright scenes, has the quality of establishing the brightness within the story, the strong elements of visual language in the scenes, making Gurung's presence worthwhile for the film industry!
