When senior folk singer Narayan Rayamajhi sang the original Deusi-Bhailo, there was a thunderous applause at the cultural hall of Kailashnagar in Tansen, Palpa. Everyone started singing, laughing and the cultural hall resonated.

Hey big courtyard, I played

dance first, Belly and Jasmine

Hey, the whole world is bright

The smiling face of the housewife....

The National Folk and Dohori Geet Foundation, Palpa, had tried to remind the youth of originality through Deusi-Bhailo by inviting senior folk singer Rayamajhi to attend. In the original Deusi Bhailo, an attempt was made to remind the originality of the housewife and the supo, including money, bread, and lights.

‘Since the time our culture started becoming commercial, our songs, music, and original culture have been disappearing,’ said singer Rayamajhi, ‘After our identity is erased, the future generation will regret what originality is. Therefore, it is necessary to try to protect our originality  .’

He understands that the distortion seen in the name of commercial songs and music in recent times has led to the loss of originality in the name of folk songs. He said that the memories of Palpa when he was young are still fresh, saying, "It is important to explain originality to the next generation. Otherwise, the next generation will forget originality due to the influence of Western culture."

Rayamajhi sang his original Jhyaure, Sorathi, and Deusi Bhailo songs. Rayamajhi, who sang group and solo songs, enchanted the audience. "The songs of senior folk singers are original," folk artist Pawan Basyal responded, "We listen to them whenever we want. There is no question that other audiences will not like them."

Deusi Bhailo programs are held in Palpa with the start of Tihar. But there are more distortions such as playing decks, dancing, and collecting money. However, some Magari communities as well as various cultural groups also perform traditional Deusi Bhailo in original costumes, singing with their mouths, and playing the madal. ‘But there are very few such groups,’ said Kamal Bhattarai, president of the National Folk and Dohorigeet Pratishthan Palpa, ‘That is why it was considered necessary to bring the old generation to teach the new generation.’

He said that the Pratishthan Palpa adopts various measures every year to preserve the original Deusi Bhailo. However, it is necessary to try to remind the tradition of singing Kheli, Deusi Bhailo, and Maruni, who play the madal in the original Deusi Bhailo, said Rekha Bista, former president of the Pratishthan. She suggests that it is necessary to teach traditional culture to the next generation. ‘Local governments, organizations, and various ethnic communities should take the lead in preserving the original culture,’ she said.

Rupesh Karki, vice president of the Pratishthan, said that now it is the older generation who should teach the young generation not only Western culture but also the original. But in this regard, she suggests that the local level government should protect the original language, costumes, and various cultural festivals.

The program held at Srinagar Cultural Hall gave the experience of Tihar. The hall was filled with spectators at the program. The original Deusi Bhailo, dance and solo performances captivated everyone. Lumbini Provincial Assembly member Bir Bahadur Rana, former MP and Constituent Assembly member Som Prasad Pandey, Tansen Municipality Mayor Santosh Lal Shrestha and others said that the hall is important to help promote tourism and said that the hall can be used properly to develop art, culture and tourism here. Since Tansen itself is a tourist destination, the hall will be important for its development and expansion, said Ward Chairman Ram Bahadur Rawal of Tansen-5.
