Documentary Maker Sarah Money's 'Masterclass'

Renowned Afghani-British documentary maker Sarah Money has given a 'masterclass' to the film students of Oscar International College. In this masterclass organized with the help of Dhaulagiri Films, Sara narrated her experience on the documentary she made on the women of Afghanistan, the hardships of making the documentary and the pain she has endured in making the film because she is a woman.

While showing the documentary titled 'A Thousand Girls Like Me' made in 2018, Sara told the students about the struggles faced by women who were raped in Afghanistan and in favor of producing various documentaries made by filmmakers to capture such stories.

In this documentary, a woman named Khatera, who was raped by her own father, took a bold step to seek justice, and is based on the life of running away from her relatives. 'No society is perfect . All societies have some problems. As filmmakers, we should be able to see those problems and find a way to solve them,' Sara said to the students. In particular, Sarah was planning to make a documentary on a building in Kabul. However, one day, she saw a video on national television where an Afghan woman spoke about the rape of her and said that no one helped her. After reaching the character for help, Sara produced 'A Thousand Girls Like Me' .

It took him 3 years to make this documentary. In this documentary, Sarah tells how the Afghan court is working in a heinous crime like rape. By showing the oppressed women's struggle for justice, she tried to show the society there. In Sara's 'masterclass', Oscar students and some filmmakers also participated.
