The 'National Tharu Artist Forum' is going to organize a grand national Tharu cultural program in Kathmandu on June 7. Vinay Vaidya, Central President of the National Tharu Artist Forum, informed that the platform is going to hold a program with the aim of preserving and promoting Tharu language, art and culture on the occasion of World Music Day.

"While the music day is being celebrated around the world, we have organized a comprehensive cultural program of artists from all over the country to draw the attention of the government to protect our own language, religion, art-culture and identity," he said, "in which Tharu artists from East Mechi to West Mahakali will perform." According to

president Vaidya, more than 50 Tharu artistes from Mechi to Mahakali will perform Tharu folk songs, original dances such as Dhumra Naach, Jhumra, Maghauta and other Tharu culture. On the first day of the event, there will be a cultural program and on the second day there will be an annual general meeting. He said that Arun Kumar Chaudhary, Minister of State of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, will be present as the chief guest of the program. The

program will also have a stall where you can taste Tharu dishes, an exhibition of Tharu traditional clothes, ornaments and cultural materials. President Vaidya said that this program is not only a means of entertainment but also a meaningful effort towards the preservation and empowerment of Tharu identity.
