Singer Premadhwaj Pradhan's 89th birth anniversary was celebrated in a grand manner on Tuesday at Chautara in Sindhupalchok. Four artists were honored in a program organized by Premadhwaj Pradhan Memorial Foundation and in collaboration with Chautara Sangachokgadhi Municipality.
According to Bhuvan Maskey, treasurer of the foundation, senior singer Meera Rana has been awarded 'Premadhwaj Pradhan National Music Award 2082'. As a mark of respect, he was given a cash prize of Rs. Municipal Mayor Krishna Prasad Sapkota handed over the award to Rana.
Senior musician Mohankrishna Karki Dhali was awarded 'Premadhwaj Pradhan National Instrumental Music Award 2082'. He received an award of Rs 50,000. Singer Suraj Kumar Thapa was honored with the 'Premadhwaj Pradhan National Youth Music Award 2082'. The prize money was 50 thousand one rupees.
Sindhupalchok-based singer Chandrasingh Ghale was awarded the 'Premadhwaj-Kiran Pradhan National Talent Music Award 2082'. He was given a cash prize of 25 thousand one rupees. Kiran Pradhan, who is the founding president of
Foundation and also the wife of singer Premdhwaj Pradhan, informed that the awards are given every two years to personalities who contribute to the music field. In the
program, singer Premadhwaj Pradhan's classical songs were presented, and national and local artists also presented a cultural program. Singer Pradhan had expressed his wish during his lifetime that such programs should be organized in his native land in his memory.
