The documentary 'Devi' directed by director Suvina Shrestha is being screened. This documentary, which contains the stories of women who were victims of rape and sexual violence during the People's War, has been on display in the hall since May 20.
In Nepal, there is not much practice of showing documentaries in halls. Especially there is no market for documentary screening in Nepal. However, some documentaries have found their way to theaters. Recently, director Rajan Kathet and Sunir Pandey's 'Dhorpatan' was exhibited at CDC for about 1 month. Not only in the 'Devi' hall, there is also a special screening of the documentary. According to
director Shrestha, special performances are being prepared in the nearby cities of Dhangadhi, Nepalgunj, Surkhet, Butwal, Biratnagar. In this 80-minute long documentary, there is a battle fought by Devi for the justice of women who were subjected to violence during the war. This documentary was selected and screened at various international film festivals.
Suvina, who turned to documentary direction through journalism, bumped into Devi Khadka while reporting. After Devi handed over her diary to Suveena, she felt the responsibility of making a documentary.
