There has been an effort to strengthen the story of 'Karma' with sound, filming, and editing techniques, but the film could not be successful because the director failed in the narration of the story.
After all, the film is not only technical, it has a story, the characters have feelings . Those emotions connect the audience with the characters. When trying to establish most of the stories in a hurry, the emotions of the characters cannot be communicated to the audience . Therefore, not being able to take the audience on a journey as much as the story of the film could have touched is the major weakness of 'Karma'.
is the story of the film Karma (Vipin Karki). Karma will serve the country like a father. The constable father wanted to make Karma an inspector. Pursuing the same goal of his father, Karma starts his journey to become an inspector. But, at the same time, Karma's dream is shattered due to the corrupt policeman Vijay (Divine Dev).
Therefore, the story of Karma revolves around Karma's revenge against Vijay for his unfulfilled dreams and his own justice and his service to the country without police uniform. How much trouble and suffering does an average person have to endure all the time from those with power and resources? The story that 'Karma' tries to show is simple .
However, director Choudhary has made a lot of weaknesses in reading the story. For example, the audience does not get to experience Vipin's struggle to become an inspector. Not being able to closely experience his struggle and the suffering done to achieve his goal, even the revenge he takes will not be very big. Something in the film is not set up correctly. Like
, friendship between Karma and friend Anil is not established . We know from one scene and narration, Karma and Anil are good friends . However, since Anil is not seen in the scene for a long time, that relationship is not established. Jokes and funny moments in the relationship between Anil and Karma do not contribute much to the reading of the story as they are dropped only when they are needed in the story.
The story of friendship and love, which is advanced in a parallel manner in multi-part, would make the reading of the story of Karma fast. The love affair with Geetanjali (Upasana Thakuri) is also not established very well . Karma and Gitanjali try to show love but their love doesn't budge very well . That's why when Gitanjali is broken for Karma in the film, the heart of the audience doesn't hurt .
In this film, as Vijay's character is shown to be corrupt from the beginning, that character is also shown to be suddenly changed in the middle. In one dialogue, when the character is shown to have given up the path of corruption, the world inside 'Karma' starts to seem impenetrable.
In most of the scenes, ``narration'' is used to tell the story, this choice of the director is correct . However, in most places, when trying to tell all the stories through narration, the story becomes thin . Exaggerated dialogues are used in the film. At a glance, Karma is portrayed as a simple character, but when the character starts speaking, he speaks literary dialogues with heavy weight.
For example in one scene Gitanjali looks at Karma and says, - There is nothing wrong with you…. Such feelings experienced by Gitanjali could only be told through visuals. Easily predictable 'plot', 'suspense' and some background sounds reminiscent of Bollywood films have made the story of 'Karma' loose.
actor's performance has made some of the film's weaknesses secondary. Be it actress Sarita Giri's role as a mother in the film or Divya Dev in the corrupt character of Vijay, these actors have captured the emotions of the characters through their acting .
Actor Bipin, who has always been seen in a realistic character, finds it difficult to accept the role of 'Larger than Live' in 'Karma'. However, Vipin has tried to present himself well in this kind of character. Mukun Bhusal and Upasana Thakuri have also tried to do justice to their characters.
The film has an English dialogue, What Goes Around-Comes Around . That is, as we work, we get the same result . Therefore, in order to get good results in the action genre, director Choudhary seems to need to work with strong screenplay and direction in the same way.
