The third edition of Nepal International Theater Festival (Nitfest) has started on Wednesday. In the courtyard of Mandala Theater located in Thapagaon, the chancellor of Nepal Music and Drama Pragya Academy, Neesha Sharma, started the official opening festival by playing Damaha baja.
While inaugurating the festival, she said, "In the year 2000, when Arohan Gurukul was opened, all of us artists were aware and dreamed of taking the drama to a destination". I am very happy to remember that day and to see today. I am proud to say that the current stage is being maintained by the new generation of artists.
Chancellor Sharma said that foreigners do not come to Nepal just to see the mountains, but also to understand the art culture here. But even though she is in the government position, she said that the amount of work that should have been done in this area was not done. He said that he could not do that because of the budget. Giving a welcome speech at the
festival, Knitfest president and actor Dayahang Rai said, "From yesterday's stage journey to today, the older generation has transferred their knowledge and experience to us." Today we are in the process of transferring the knowledge and experience learned by our generation to the new generation. When we reach the third edition of the festival, we are practicing the same handover under the bright theme of Raithane Gyan. In the official opening ceremony, Deepak Raj Joshi, Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Tourism Board, Lee Hai Chi, Secretary General of China Theater Association, Irina Saji, Theater Director of Japan, Malin Fetyat, Peace Advisor of GIZ, etc. gave their views.
17 plays from 12 countries are being staged in the festival which will last until Chait 12th. The festival includes drama, poetry, music, dance performances and other programs.
