'Human Reprint' at Berlinale

Excuse me! Can you change your seat with me?

The dirty urge of this middle-aged woman diverted attention from the activity inside 'Berlinale Palast'.

Robert Pattinson, one of the attractions of the 75th Berlin International Film Festival-Berlinale, is walking on the red carpet of the Palast, with a charming smile. Taking photos with fans, giving autographs . The video of him walking is playing inside the hall of Palast. Famous Korean director Bong Joon is also on the red carpet.

In a hurry to be a witness of this magnificent red carpet walk of the two, I easily accepted his request . I look for the place marked on the ticket, assigning the seat to the right of the curtain, aha! What a coincidence, the seat is right next to the curtain. Bong and Robert came to sit about 10 rows in front of the same seats attached to the projection room. "Parasite" is the director and Robert Pattinson, who gained fame from "Twilight"! What else do you need . And it began - the world premiere of 'Mickey 17' - the story of the human reprint.

The 'Berlinale Palast' in Berlin's Postdamer Platz, where films from the main competition of the festival are screened, today is the turn of 'Mickey 17'.

The story of Human Reprint ? That is, the printing of people! After all, what would happen if people could be printed! What would this world be like! If everyone had the same power of printing, how many would print themselves! How many prints of your loved ones would be done! If something could easily be printed, why would that woman keep wandering around asking to change the seat ? She could print whatever stamp she wanted. If only tickets could be printed, everyone would have printed tickets for Robert and Bong Chae.

But, where in the real world is this happening ! When printing the ticket, the seat also had to be printed, where is it possible to print the same seat? If the seats and tickets are suitable for printing, I should not have reached the press office of Berlinale to arrange tickets for 'Mickey 17'. The ticket booking of "Mickey 17" slipped out of hand in the rush of all-round programs of

festival, journalist gathering, interviews. The world premiere of a film directed by a director like Bong would have caught the attention of most people . "Mickey 17" was sold out in one moment as soon as the tickets were opened. Spent the whole day scrolling through online booking sites to see if a seat is available. Finally, I reached the press office at the Grand Hyatt and requested for tickets. The press office showed little hope by saying not to trust . The hope did not turn into disappointment, tickets were received exactly one hour before the start. It is sure, they also did not collect tickets by 'reprinting'.

However, the world of 'Mickey 17' directed by Bong is strange. People are printed here. Some people connected with the space mission have gathered . The main person of the space mission is . There are doctors and from them people are printed here. Mickey, who is involved in this campaign with the idea of getting rid of debt, is different from all of them, because he is the only one with a body that can be reprinted after death. As soon as he dies, a group of doctors create a new body for him, putting his old memories into the new version of Mickey .

So far Mickey has died 16 times, the 17th version is a new look . That is, he is the Mickey printed for the 17th time. 17th Mickey also comes close to dying, but by chance he survives. However, this cycle of dying and living comes to a head when the 18th version is printed while Mickey 17 is still alive. What will Mickey 17 do to save his existence? How will Mickey 18 counter that? How will those on this space mission see it? After all, how did the girlfriend of Mickey 17 show love to the new version of Mickey ?

Bong's sci-fi comedy film has love, laughter, and tears. It's a beautiful message. There is a gap between the rich and the poor. It is a strong satire of how those in power are dominating the weak, how they are taking over the whole world.

At first glance, the story of the film is normal, but through the character of Mickey, the film questions this society where humanity is disappearing - Where has the humanity in you disappeared? The film shows how humanity is getting lost in the midst of a prosperous society and power structure. There are some such scenes in the film, which make us explore the humanity within us. Humans struggle with aliens, dubbed 'Creepy Creatures', and every step the aliens take for their families raises huge questions about humanity. The

film talks about what should be done to keep the environment balanced through aliens, and how all creatures should live together in the environment.

Mickey has a very innocent nature, he is extraordinary among ordinary people . Mickey's speech is slow, he slowly understands everything . However, through his innocent style, 'Mickey 17' gives a strong message to the audience to save humanity.  As in the

'Parasite', Bong explores the different dimensions of these class differences. The relationship between Mickey and Kenneth Marshall is an example of how those who have control over power and structure continue to rule over the poor. Kenneth has the power to do anything in a frenzy of power . The humanity in him has been lost due to ambition and abuse of power. This character only oppresses the poor for his own selfish interests. The film also beautifully shows how those in power misuse their power, how the balance of society is disturbed by them.

Robert, who has acted in films like 'The Batman', 'Tenet', has done a beautiful job with his voice in this film .

At the Berlinale this year, not only Robert, but also artists such as Timothy Samlett have seen the hard work in character portrayal and the effect it has on reading the story. While performing on Bob Dylan, this artist sang Bob's songs himself, spent years playing the guitar . The result of Samlet singing Bob's famous song in the same melody and rhythm became an interview, the audience . Not only that, Benedict Cumberbatch presented a performance that expresses the complex experience and feelings within the character through the character of his father in "The Thing With Feathers".

'Batman' worked on speech here to present Mickey's innocent nature . However, sometimes this character of Robert sounded like Tom Hanks had already done it in 'Forrest Gump'. In that sense, director Bong has left many places where this character can be presented in a different way. Mickey's speaking style sounds similar to Forrest's. However, Robert has strongly portrayed the two characters . The innocent style of Mickey 17, the flexible nature of the "duplicate" Mickey 18 survived the harsh, militant behavior.    Based on the

novel 'Mickey 7', this film has some places where Bong feels weak. The disappearing humanity, aliens (creepy creatures) and the struggle of humans for their existence have not been made before. In that sense, Bong's film is not very new. But, as it goes deep into the subject matter and communicates with the audience on a deep issue, Bong seems sensitive, aware and powerful in that sense.

This film, produced by many well-known producers in collaboration with a big Hollywood company like Warner Brothers, will be released worldwide from March 7. The film 'Parasite' directed by Bong 6 years ago was very different from 'Mickey 17'. It didn't have Hollywood actors like Robert, nor was it connected to a big Hollywood company film . How did Oscar winner Bong, who made a

realistic film, become interested in the science fiction genre like "Mickey 17"? During the press conference, Bong replied with a laugh, 'Human reprint itself is an interesting and comic subject . And a Robert Pattinson printable too!'

After 137 minutes, the red curtain of the hall inside Palast fell . Bong and Pattinson slowly got up from where they were sitting amid thunderous applause. The audience gave a standing ovation for about 5 minutes. Some whistled and hooted. Bong looked at the audience and waved. Pattinson began to laugh in shock.

After that, Bong got on the stage and made the audience laugh with his words, 'You stayed till the end to watch the movie, thank you .' The pleasure of watching Bong and Pattinson's film sitting in the same hall with them was like reprinting 'Batman' for Bong. 'It was so much fun to think of printing Robert Pattinson and making more Roberts,' said Bong to full laughter.
