Cinematographer Sushan Prajapati and producer Sushant Shrestha have been selected in 'Berlinale Talent'. Sushan and Sushant from Nepal have been selected for the talents of cinematography and production sector in this platform organized by the world renowned film festival 'Berlin'.
He was selected among 3,836 competitors who applied from 2,123 countries. Earlier, five talents from Nepal were selected on this platform. Berlin has selected the last 210 talents from among the participating competitors this time.
This competition of 210 people selected from 62 countries will have the opportunity of 'networking' through talks, workshops and debates among filmmakers from all over the world and will be able to engage in talent for 6 days under the theme 'Listen Courageously: Cinematic Narratives in Times of Dissonance'. This program will be held from 15th February to 20th . 'Berlinale Talent' will provide an opportunity for selected talents in the film industry from around the world to connect with exceptional achievements, transcend local boundaries, and provide opportunities for extensive practice and collaboration. Sushan and Sushant will now be known as the Berlin talents of more than 10,000 scattered around the world. Sushant is an active name in
filmmaking. Sushant started film production in 2018 with the feature film 'Katha 72'. Earlier he had produced 'Junuko Jotaka' directed by Kedar Shrestha . Sushant, who produced the short film 'At Another Winter' which was selected in Busan, has also produced 'Wheels on Din Bus'. Sushant is also the co-producer of the critically acclaimed Aina Jhyalko Putli. Currently he is making 'Gulabi Patra', 'Junuko Ribbon' and 'Ashub Astami' in post production . He is also the producer of the under-production documentary 'The Last Shepherd'. Sushant did not start filmmaking after taking any formal education in filmmaking. In 2021, he only took a 6-month 'producing course' at Busan Asian Film School.
Sushant had been filling applications for 'Berlinale Talent' for 7 years. Even though he was on the waiting list last year, he could not reach the final stage. After seven years, I was selected. I have always wanted to learn international level filmmaking . My aim is to bring filmmaking learned from world films to Nepal. This time I got that chance,' said Sushant.
Sushan is the current trending cinematographer. The film 'Rato Suitcase' shot by Sushan, who is busy shooting 'Soltini', was selected in Venice . 'Rato Suitcase' has proved that Sushan is active not only in commercial films but also in different films. Sushan, who shot 'Im Twenty One', 'Chisimusi Chi', '2 Numberi', 'Hattichap', 'Rangeli', is doing 5/6 films a year. Sushan, who studied film at Oscar College of Film Studies, started cinematography as Rajesh Shrestha's assistant. Along with studying film, he also made a feature film titled 'Hey Yuva', the failure of which taught Sushan to be serious about filmmaking. Sushan, who did 'Awaken Eyes' with Vinod Paudel, shot 'Exception' in 2010 with a DSLR. Sushan is curious to learn new things from filmmakers and production teams of the world. 'I am very happy . I am ready to cooperate with international filmmakers, said Sushan.
