Singer Anand Karki died in Veergunj after almost 35 years. Karki, who shared the stage at Birganj's Trimurti Hall three-and-a-half decades ago with famous Indian singer Pinaj Mashani, got nostalgic when he performed at Birganj's Nagar Auditorium on Friday night.
Karki gave his presentation continuously from 7 to 9 pm in a single evening organized on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of Asha Kiran Kendra Birganj, an organization providing free services to children with mental retardation and cerebral palsy. He started the performance with his famous song 'Janam Janam Diunla Sahih' and then sang 'Yi hallaho hun yunye suneka'.
Then, on the demand of the local audience/listeners, he recited famous Indian ghazal singer Jagjit Singh's 'Hotho Se Chulo Tum', Pankaj Udhas's 'Chandi Jaisa Rang Hai Tera' etc. Apart from these, he presented songs from Kishore Kumar, Udit Narayan Jha to Kumar Sanu. Sunil Gupta, president of
center, said that the money collected from the program will be spent on the management and operation of the center. He informed that the center has been providing free services to children with mental retardation and cerebral palsy for a decade.
