'Nepal Human Rights International Film Festival' started

The 12th 'Nepal Human Rights International Film Festival' has started with the screening of Croatian short film 'The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent'. Inaugurated by National Human Rights Commission Chairman Tap Bahadur Magar, Film Development Board Chairman Dinesh DC, director Naveen Subba, Dipendra Gauchan and other filmmakers were in attendance.

In this festival organized in the hall of the Film Development Board, most of the films participating in the world famous film festival have been selected for the competition. Pandav Khatri, the president of the festival, said that the Human Rights Film Center, which was established in 2009, has been regularly organizing festivals for the promotion and screening of films related to human rights. "If you look at the lineup of the festival, the films we have chosen are the films that have participated in prestigious film festivals in the world," said Khatri.

The film 'All We Imagine as Light', which won the Grand Jury Fiction Award at the world-renowned Cannes Film Festival, is at the center of attraction of this festival. "The Man Who Couldn't Remain Silent" won the short section at Cannes, "An Outrun" won the short section at the Berlin International Film Festival, "Anar Dana" won the award at Generation K Plus in Berlin and  Films like 'Otit' have been selected for competition in this festival.

Similarly, 9 documentaries including 'How to Please' have been selected in the international short documentary competition. The festival, which will be organized under the main theme of social justice, will be conducted for four days at the Nepal Tourism Board and Film Development Board at Chabahil. It will be shown in 47 film festivals in 23 countries including Nepal. There will be master classes from interactive discussions on five different topics.
