Madeleine Albright was born on this day (May 15) in 1937. She is America's first female Secretary of State. Born in Prague, Czech Republic (then Czechoslovakia), Madeleine was appointed US Secretary of State on January 23, 1997.

After the Nazis occupied Czechoslovakia in March 1939, Madeleine's family fled to England. After World War II, his family returned to Sweden and came to America after the communist coup in the Czech Republic with the support of the Soviet Union.

After that, Madeleine, who started studying at Columbia University in America, graduated in 1968. She then became involved in the 1972 presidential election campaign. After graduating in 1976, she got a chance to work in the team of security advisers of former US President Jimmy Carter. Madeleine was a professor at Georgetown University from 1982 to 1993.

From 1993 to 1997, Madeleine served as the US Ambassador to the United Nations and was the Secretary of State from 1997 to 2001 during the second term of US President Bill Clinton. Madeleine died on March 23, 2002 in Washington, USA.
