In the 10th National Games to be held in Karnali Province, 419 events have been offered in 35 games. There is a proposed schedule for the National Games to be held in November.
Member-Secretary of National Sports Council (Rakhep) Tanklal Ghising made this proposal in the meeting held on Thursday of the 10th National Games and First Para National Games hosted by Shiv Koirala, Vice President of the National Sports Council.
Member-Secretary proposed 35 sports except paragliding out of 36 sports included in the 9th National Games held in Gandaki province. Rakhep has already proposed the 10th National Games from November 2nd to 9th.
Before that, the competition of 6 different games was proposed to start from November 27, according to Rakhep. Women's football, wushu, men's/women's basketball, judo, men's/women's hockey and taekwondo have been proposed to be held before the opening ceremony of the 10th National Games. A decisive number of 1,499 has been proposed. In the
meeting, Member-Secretary Ghising informed that a budget of 600 million has been secured from the Nepal government for the 10th National Games and said that the budget will be provided to Karnali Province Sports Development Council to advance the preparations.
He said that there was no alternative to organizing the grand national sports as the country's 'Olympic sports'. He emphasized that all the agencies should be responsible and serious to successfully complete the 10th National Games.
He said that the Council is ready to organize the 10th National Games on time. Pointing out the need to make sports professional, he informed that the logo and mascot have been selected and preparations have been made to give responsibility to the respective provinces to manage the sports uniforms.
Member-Secretary Ghising said that as per the international practice, after the completion of the 10th National Games, Nepal is going to organize Para Games for the first time in Karnali.
Rakhep Vice President Shiv Koirala said that during the meeting, the suggestions received regarding the revision of sports management guidelines will be addressed and said that the 10th National Games should be held at the appointed time.
Member-Secretary of Karnali Pradesh Sports Development Council Bishwamitra Sanjyal said that due to housing management, only 22 to 24 games can be played in 5 districts of Karnali Province and the rest of the games should be decided soon. The member-secretaries of the provincial sports participating in the
meeting expressed their opinions on the issues such as the selection of players from the rural areas, the participation of at least 5 teams in one game, and the release of the budget within time.
