Tribhuvan Army Club became the team champion in the 4th Prakash Dahal Memorial National Open Boxing Tournament on Friday. Army won 15 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze medals.
In the tournament jointly organized by Nepal Boxing Federation and Prakash Dahal Foundation, APF came second with 3 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze. Third place Nepal Police Club won the third place with 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.
Tripureshwar based Bhupendra Thapa of Police and Ramisha Shrestha of RDS were declared the best boxers in the men's category of the competition held at Rakhep Covered Hall. Bhupendra got a motorcycle and Ramisha got a scooter.
The winner was awarded by Finance Minister Varshman Pun, former minister Bina Thapamagar, former minister Daljit Sirpali, Member-Secretary of Rakhep Tanklal Ghising, President of Nepal Boxing Federation Ram Awale and others.
Federation Secretary General Man Bahadur Bhandari said that 175 players from 31 teams from districts and clubs along with three departmental teams participated in the five-day tournament.
There were 23 events, 13 for men and 10 for women. The top three winners in each competition received 40,000, 20,000 and 10,000 rupees respectively.
