Chairman of Kantipur Media Group Kailash Sirohia has said that journalism should be done for economic prosperity. In the past, the country's agenda was political change and the media sector supported it, he said, for now, economic prosperity is the country's agenda.

In a program organized on Wednesday on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of Kantipur Publications, Chairman Sirohia said that the media has the responsibility of turning the hopelessness of the young generation into hope. He said that

media is not only a business but also a responsibility. Sirohia mentioned that along with Kantipur, Nepal's journalism has also prospered. Remembering that Kantipur played an important role in establishing democracy in Nepal, he said that Kantipur is moving ahead in institutionalizing freedom of speech, independent journalism and political change. 

Sirohia, president of Kantipur Media Group, made it clear that Kantipur is a shareholder of every change in the country. He said that Kantipur never bowed down even though various powers tried to bend it due to communication work. He mentioned that Kantipur is not afraid of anyone because it is the right of the reader to get the true news and the right of the journalist to write it.

He said that in any crisis, Kantipur will move forward undisturbed. President Sirohia said that along with the development of information technology, there are both opportunities and challenges in the field of journalism. "Misinformation and disinformation have become a challenge, both are a threat to democracy," he said.

Kantipur Publications 32nd Anniversary Program Awarded Best Performance Journalists and Staff. Kulchandra Neupane of Kantipur Daily has been awarded this year's 'Kantipur Journalist of the Year' and Sangam Prasai of Kathmandu Post has been awarded 'The Kathmandu Post Journalist of the Year'. Naresh Raut was declared the best in layout. Kavre District Correspondent Jyoti Shrestha received the 'Regional Reporter of the Year' award.
