Deputy Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakashman Singh, who visited Egypt, returned home on Saturday. After participating in the World Urban Forum in Cairo, the Nepali delegation team led by him arrived in Kathmandu on Saturday.
After landing at Tribhuvan Airport, Deputy Prime Minister Singh said that during his visit to Egypt, Nepal has succeeded in drawing the attention of the world community to solve the problems faced by Nepal in urbanization.
Deputy Prime Minister Singh claimed that he succeeded in drawing the world's attention to the progress Nepal has achieved in the field of urbanization and the problems it is facing at the forum held in Cairo.
'Due to climate change, there are heavy rains in cities, floods and avalanches in the mountains. However, Nepal is such a country in the world, which reduces pollution but has to bear the impact of climate change. That is why I have raised the point that UN Habitat should talk to the United Nations and emphasize on providing support to Nepal in the matter of green financing,' he said.
UN-Habitat's commitment to continuous support in planning based on facts and data, he said that the support of the United Nations for strong cooperation for sustainable urbanization is positive for Nepal. 182 countries participated in the conference in which ministers related to urban development from 77 countries participated in the discussion at the ministry level.
Deputy Prime Minister Singh was welcomed at the airport by Minister of State for Forests and Environment Rupa Vick, Member of the House of Representatives Rajan KC, Member of the Constituent Assembly Deepak Kuinkel, Member of Parliament of Bagmati Province Dipendra Shrestha, Head of Gokarneshwar Municipality Deepak Risal.
