Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is coming to America to participate in the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), will address Columbia University in New York and Harvard University in Boston.

Prime Minister Oli is arriving in New York on October 5. He is scheduled to address on October 10. The main slogan of this year's General Assembly is 'Leaving no one behind: working together for peace, sustainable development and advancement of human dignity for the present and future generations'. Prime Minister Oli will address this special issue.

Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to fly to Boston from New York on October 11, the day after addressing the General Assembly. After giving a speech in Boston on October 11, Oli will return to Nepal on October 12.

Before that, there is a program to be addressed by Oli at the 'Summit of the Future' during the General Assembly. The program will be held on the 6th and 7th at the headquarters of the UN. The Summit of the Future is co-hosted by Germany and Namibia. A conference is going to be held under the leadership of Secretary General Antonio Guterres to show the way forward in the current crisis world situation.

Building on established frameworks such as the UN Charter, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UPR), the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 Agenda, the Paris Agreement on Climate Change and the Addis Ababa Action Agenda for SDG Implementation, the Summit of the Future aims to achieve our shared aspirations. The program is going to be held according to the plan of the UN to find practical strategies .

The 79th Mahasabha, which will last for 18 days, will end on October 12. Prime Minister Oli is going to come to New York leading a 22-member Nepalese delegation. When Oli was the Prime Minister for the first and second time, he started his foreign trip from visiting India.

For the third time, he did not visit any country when he was the Prime Minister for only three months. Oli became the Prime Minister for the first time in 2072, for the second time in 2074 and for the third time in 2078. After becoming the Prime Minister for the fourth time, this will be Oli's first foreign visit.

Oli last addressed the 75th UN General Assembly in 2020, which was held virtually due to the Covid-19 epidemic. Then, in the 76th General Assembly of 2021, the then Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba sent a Nepali delegation led by Foreign Minister Narayan Khadka. Then, in the 77th General Assembly, the then Prime Minister Deuba sent a Nepalese delegation led by Foreign Secretary Bharatraj Paudyal. In the 78th General Assembly, the then Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal himself led the Nepalese delegation.
