Singer Om Vikram Bista, who is known as the pop emperor of Nepal, has been awarded the long-standing honor of the 'National Music Awards 2080' organized by Radio Kantipur. Bista, who has spent five decades in the pop genre, has also introduced unplugged recording in Nepal. The honor was given in recognition of his musical contribution.
"I am very happy to receive this honor," said 73-year-old Bista while receiving the honor. In his honour, singer Suraj Kumar Thapa dedicated Bista's much-loved song 'Ma Mauntama...'. Singer Chandni Shakya along with singer Thapa performed the song 'Chanchle...' while singer Bisht himself climbed the stage and joined in the singing. After that, when Bishta sang 'Ko Ho Tiya Jee Malai...', the audience present at the program also danced. In the awards given in
13 categories, the songs broadcasted from July 2079 to June 2080 were the basis of evaluation. Singer Suresh Dhungana won the best 'new singer/new singer' award for 'A Raat'. Pradeep Mainali won the award for best composer for 'Ke Lat Basyo'. The ghazal in the voice and music of Tilaksingh Pella was very popular last year.
Mahesh Khadka won the award for the best music composer for the song 'Dhunga Jasal'. which has lyrics by Subas Chandra and voice of singer Pramod Kharel.
Similarly, Shantisree Pariyar won the award for Best Folk Dohori Singer for 'Majhi Dai'. The song has lyrics by Netra Aryal and music by Khem Century. As for the folk singer, Prakash Saput was adjudged the best from 'Sakambari'. Saput won the award after Prakash Dutraj, Raju Periyar, Khem Century, Raju Dhakal who were nominated in this category. As for playback singer, Benisha Paudel won the National Music Award by beating Shahima Shrestha, Sadiccha Kattel, Nikita Thapa and Rachna Rimal for the song 'Diunla Maya...' from the film 'Nai Nabhannu La 6'. On the playback singer side, SD Yogi won the award for 'Bemausami...' sung in the movie 'Mahapurusha'. Yogi has composed the music in the said song with the words of Ram Aviral Bishta.
Sangeeta Rana won the award for the best modern singer for 'Kaiyun Dukh...'. Banika Pradhan, Numa Limbu, Rachna Rimal and Nisha Deshar were nominated along with him in this category. Tilaksingh Pella won the award for the best modern singer for 'Ke Lat Basyo...'. Singers Rajeshpayal Rai, Karma Galjen Bomjan, Surajkumar Thapa and Himal Sagar were nominated along with Tilak in the Best Modern Singer category. 'Swara' won the award for Best Band from 'Undefined'. Avaya and the Steam Engines, Axis, Monkey Temple and The Edge Band were nominated in this category. In pop singer Suwani Moktan won the award for 'Bani'. She beat Trishala Gurung, Trishna Gurung, Melina Mainali and Prashna Shakya to become the best pop singer of the year 2080.
Sushant KC won the best pop singer award for the famous song 'Sarangi'. Sameer Shrestha, Savin Rai, Apoorva Tamang and Naveen K Bhattarai were nominated in this category along with Sushant. The 'People's Choice' award was won by Swapn Suman and Sameer Shrestha from 'Je Chhau Tu'. In which category Sushant KC (Sarangi), David Shankar (Darshan Salaam), Sujan Chapagain (Phoolthunge Rani) and Tilak Singh Pella (Ke Lat Basyo) were also competing. The winner of the award is selected through voting. Another attraction of the program, which came with
musical group, was when Pawandeep Rajan sang 'Kise Pushhun...', most of the audience turned on the 'flash light' of their mobile phones. Pawandeep, the winner of the 12th season of the Indian reality show Indian Idol, performed 'Tere Mitti...', 'Sayed...', 'Kesaria...', 'Asiana...', 'Tera Yaar Hoon Mein...' in a performance of about half an hour. .', 'Lagja Gale...' and sang dozens of popular songs. He said before starting the performance with his own Nepali song 'Timro our meeting...', 'I have also sung a Nepali song, in a very good composition.' Pawandeep has come to Kathmandu to perform at the 6th National Music Awards organized by Radio Kantipur. Along with Indian singer Pawan, a Nepali singer/singer also performed in the program.
