This year's Badri Pahari Social Service Award will be given to social activist former ambassador Padam Sundas. The Human Rights and Peace Society is going to award this year's 'Karmayogi Badri Pahari Social Service Award' to Sundas for his special contribution to social justice.
Shanti Samaj Chairman Renuka Paudel informed that the meeting of the award selection committee decided to give this award of 100,000 rupees to Sundas this year. Born in Bhojpur on June 32, 2002, Sundas has been active in the field of social justice for the past three decades. He worked as Nepal's ambassador to Bahrain for 4 years from 2074 to 78.
Sundas, who holds a diploma in civil engineering, also played a role as a member of the national level advisory committee (caste discrimination and untouchability and Dalit rights promotion mechanism) under the Prime Minister's Office in 2068. Sundas, who is a member of more than a dozen organizations working for social justice, led the Bhojpur Siddhakali Mandir entry campaign in 2021.
In 2072, he played the role of civil society coordinator in the three-month peaceful joint Dalit movement for a Dalit-friendly constitution. He has also worked as the vice-chairman of the neglected oppressed and Dalit class upliftment development committee.
Sundas worked as the president of Nepal Dalit Literature and Culture Foundation for 20 years. He is also a founding member of Asia Dalit Rights Forum. Sundas has published a book called Chinari of Bhojpur and a collection of stories about the stolen night. He was previously awarded the Bhagat Sarvajit Manav Maryada National Award from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2073.
