Most of the actors who started appearing on the screen from the theater forget the stage. However, Menuka Pradhan is advancing theater and screen in a parallel manner. The criticism she heard many times was, 'Your attitude was not like that of a heroine, you had no personality.' But Menuka always felt that action is bigger than personality. So she continued acting.

There is an episode in the Mohan Rai directed film 'Mahanagar' - Khushi and Ashish bump into each other while helping a person who has suffered a motorcycle accident. The same incident leads them to a forced situation where they have to spend a night together.
The feelings shared by the two characters, who are connected by humanity, in that short time, the awkward feelings shared are shown in the film. In 'Mahanagar', she is seen in the role of a young woman, Menuka Pradhan. A young man turned artist, Karma. After watching this story that ended in 'Open Ending', do you think if these two characters had been together until the morning after that night, if a few moments of love would have established a relationship of love? What would be their future?
The play 'Dukdhuki 72 Megaherz', which is being staged at Mandala Theater in Baneshwar, seems to be showing the future of happiness and blessings. What would it be like if the love of the happiness and blessings of the 'city' took the road to marriage? What would the ups and downs of married life be like? At a glance, the story of 'Mahanagar' is complete in 'Dukdhuki 72 MHz', although these are two different stories told by two different directors. The
coincidence is the same, the main actors are Menuka and Karma. Some of the feelings experienced by the happy character, the love of the play is similar to the character. Khushi, who entered the city in search of a dream, was made unhappy by Kathmandu. She was frustrated, frustrated, confused. Maya who is standing on the stage of 'Dukdhuki 72 Megaherz' is also confused, she is desperate. A child is growing in her womb, she is gathering courage to face the tough questions that grow with the womb.
When Maya appears on the stage, it looks like she is really pregnant. The emotions seen in the character are also found well. The audience is led to believe that it is not Menuka, but Maya appearing on the stage, who is struggling with her difficult pregnancy. This is the beauty of Menuka, she lives the character she is in. She captures the character's physical expression, speech and thinking style. What emotions do pregnant women face? Menuka created the character of Maya keeping that in the background. Be it screen or stage, she is adept at acting to suit her character. Most of the actors who started appearing on the screen from
theater forget the stage. However, Menuka is advancing theater and screen in a parallel manner. Be it 'Euta Sapnako Avasan' or 'Deurali Dandi' directed by Anup Baral. Menuka has not forgotten the stage. Menuka loves the stage as much as the film camera. He is an artist who enjoys these two different mediums. As an artist, I feel like I have a desire to live a story, a character, to experience it, be it on stage or in a film. These two mediums have their own strengths. Maybe for others it was not possible to return to the stage, but it was possible for me,' said Menuka.
According to Menuka, acting in the film should be presented in front of the camera by experiencing an emotion in a different way. On the stage, the same feeling should spread in a wide way. "When we're conveying those emotions from the stage, we wave in a very broad way. In this way, when practicing it on the stage, the experience of broadening oneself is also experienced, "Menuka narrated the experience of acting on the stage."
Behind acting befitting the character, Menuka's formula is amazing. It is his practice that has made Menuka excel in character acting. However, he feels that his acting so far has been average. She leans heavily towards psychology in character building. She focuses not only on the psychology of a character but also on the emotional side. As soon as she gets the script, she begins to create the character based on the information mentioned in it.
How does the character think? What is he weaving in his mind? How does the character think and feel in each scene? Menuka creates character by looking at these aspects. "Especially, we are experiencing the experience that any character experiences in life. I try to become that character by experiencing the same experience in real form within myself. I am working on what the character would have thought in that situation,' said Menuka.
Meenuka says she wants to do all kinds of characters. But now she is getting more offers for such scripts, innocent, loving, suffering characters. She prefers a director with a clear vision, a strong story. So she is rejecting offers of the same character. She wants to live characters who are not only positive but also have different personalities. There is also a desire to play a negative role. However, there is fear that the dark part of that character will escape.
When creating a character with 100% belief in the state and psychology of the character, the impression of that character follows the artist till later. Maneka has many experiences that affected herself when she immersed herself in the depth of the character. "The wound of a character hurts us too. When you enter mentally like that, the wound keeps burning," she said, "If you can't believe the psychology of a character, I don't understand it at all. That's why we believe, but when we believe in that way, the wounds of that character remain in our unconscious mind.'' At that time, she accepts the truth of acting and life and tries to avoid it.
In 'Pani Photo', the wound of the mother who was waiting for her missing son haunted Menuka for a long time. Menuka, who played the role of a wife on screen with her mentor Anup Baral, experienced the motherhood within her while playing the character. She caught the stubborn nature of the said character. The mother character of 'Pani Photo' is one of the strongest characters played by Menuka. In it, a mother showed in a deep way the feelings of waiting for her son through her acting. Menuka presented every decision to wait and search for her son through the expression on her face. The deep pain of the character was reflected in his eyes.
characters don't just get hurt. Menuka has experienced many changes in herself as an artist till the completion of that character's journey. She experienced being new. Similar aspects in character building make Menuka hungry for new characters. According to Menuka, each character adds a different point of view. She knew how to look at happiness while making the city happy. Khushi's gaze widened Menuka's gaze. The shooting of Mahanagara was done at night, at that time she realized the beauty of the night during the shooting of the film. The sleeping city, the pitch dark – she got rid of her fears about the night and gathered a new idea. The newness of the happy character shedding the dark side and embracing the newness, the change in the character itself was a fun aspect for Menuka.
Not only 'Mahanagar', Menuka starrer 'Guras' has recently made a strong presence in the international market. The film won the Jury Award at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic. Menuka's team did not think that they won the award at that time. On the day of the awards, when the 'dress code' did not include shoes, the festival team asked Menuka to match the shoes as well. Even then Menuka and his team did not get a chance to win the award. When the award was announced, the 'Guras' team was shocked. One of the festival who was facilitating us said that you are the ones who will win the award. We were looking at each other even then. We were happy to win the award, we laughed like children,' said Menuka.
Menuka is still known as Saili by many people. Although the real name is not known, Menuka is called Saili by many. The audience calls me Saili like a member of their own family. do you love I am very happy to see that,” she said. Although Hemant Rana's famous song 'Saili' took him to the top of the limelight, Menuka's strong performance is in the film - Saili. In 'Saili' directed by Rambabu Gurung, Menuka has survived the experiences of such Sailis, who have gone abroad for their family and dreams. Among the two Sailis, Menuka likes Saili's character in the film. Because the style of video is created by society, gentle, loving, innocent, but the style of film is stubborn, independent and has the ability to lead. The
menu has been subverting the prevailing stereotypes of the heroine through different characters. She does not shy away from public events like other actors. Menuka has his argument on this. There is also a point of view that heroines should walk with hesitation. Especially acting is my karma. But, my personality is me. That's why I am the way I am,'' she says. However, I did not feel comfortable walking that way. So I accepted myself as I am and moved forward.'
This is the criticism that Menuka has heard many times in this journey of acting - your attitude is not like that of a heroine, you have no personality. But Menuka always felt that karma is greater than personality. So she continued acting. She had shown the aptitude to become an artist since childhood. She used to watch a lot of TV. She used to imitate the speaking style of actors seen on television. While studying at school, she showed the hoarding board to her friends and said, "Look friends, one day my photo will be there."
The belief that Menuka showed in herself when she was in school has now been fulfilled. She was a filmmaker since childhood. She used to write autographs for her friends in class and say, 'I won't get an autograph the day after tomorrow, take it now.' Her friends knew that she would become a menu artist. Not only friends, teachers and even the principal knew this. She used to participate in every cultural program of the school. However, the science teacher used to say, 'I know, you will become an artist. But studying science.'
Menuka came to Kathmandu at the age of 18 after finishing 12th grade from Gaindakot in Narayanghat to become an artist. When she was studying in class 7, she made a play for the local television in Chitwan. As soon as she came to Kathmandu, she went to many auditions through the people who connected her to the same television. However, rejected from everywhere. The results were heartbreaking. As soon as she reached Kathmandu, the admission of new students was stopped. So she struggled to audition for a long time. She bumped into Anup Baral and Dia Maske through the audition of the film 'Ek Din Ekrat'. After that film, Menuka learned acting at the Actors Studio 14 years ago.
