Pop Emperor Om Vikram Bista has been awarded the Long Sadhana Samman (Lifetime Achievement) in the prestigious award 'National Music Awards-2080' organized by Radio Kantipur.
This honor has been given to Bista, who introduced not only pop, but also unplugged recording in Nepal, appreciating his efforts in this genre for five decades.
'I am very happy to receive this honor,' said 73-year-old Bisht while raising the award. In his honour, singer Suraj Kumar Thapa sang on Bista's much-loved song 'Ma Mauntama'. Along with singer Thapa, singer Chandni Shakya performed on the song 'Chanchale' and Samrat Bishta himself also came on the stage . And, in a troubled tone, the two singers, along with the singer, mixed their voices in their songs . When Samrat sang 'Chanchale' and 'Ko Ho Tye Je Je Malai', the audience also swayed .
award program became the center of attraction when Indian reality show Indian Idol 12th season winner Pawandeep Rajan and his group started the performance with the song 'Kise Pushhun', most of the audience's mobile phones went towards him . Pawan's group performed on songs like 'Tere Mitti', 'Sayed', 'Kesaria', 'Asiana', 'Tera Yaar Hoon Me' and 'Lagja Gale' while playing tabla for about half an hour. He also sang the Nepali song 'Timro Manor Vet' which he gave voice to. "I also sang a Nepali song, in a very good composition," Pawandeep said before starting the song.
The sixth edition of the prestigious award 'National Music Awards-2080' organized by Radio Kantipur is going to be held on June 32. The award, which is being organized on the occasion of Radio Kantipur's anniversary, has been held between separate ceremonies since the 5th edition.
Radio Kantipur sixth 'National Music Awards-2080' awards have been distributed in 13 categories this year. In a program organized in Kathmandu on Friday, the award was distributed for the songs broadcasted from July 2079 to the end of June 2080.
Best 'New Singer/New Singer' award went to singer Suresh Dhungana for 'Ae Raat' with lyrics by Prabha Adhikari, Sathya and music by Swaroopraj Acharya . Pradeep Mainali won the best composer award for 'Ke Lat Basyo'. Tilaksingh Pela has sung this ghazal, which is hanging in the audience's mouth, and the song has his own music . Mahesh Khadka won the award for the best music direction for the song 'Dhunga Jasal'. This song has the lyrics of Subas Chandra and the voice of singer Pramod Kharel .
The best folk singer award was won by Shantisree Pariyar from 'Majhi Dai'. The song has lyrics by Netra Aryal and music by Khem Century. Prakash Saput got the award for the best folk singer from 'Sakambari'. Along with Prakash, Prakash Duttaraj, Raju Periyar, Khem Century, Raju Dhakal were nominated in this category.
Benisha Paudel won the best playback singer for 'Diunla Maya' from 'Nai Nabhannu La 6' . Along with Benisha, Sahima Shrestha, Sadiccha Kattel, Nikita Thapa and Rachna Rimal were nominated in this category. Also, SD Yogi won the award for Best Playback Singer for 'Bemausami'. This song from the movie 'Mahapurusha' has lyrics by Ram Aviral Bishta and music by singer Yogi .
Sangeeta Rana won the award for the best modern singer from 'Kayun Dukh'. Banika Pradhan, Numa Limbu, Rachna Rimal and Nisha Desar were nominated along with him in this category. Tilak Singh Pella won the award for Best Modern Singer for 'Ke Lat Basyo'. This song has also won an award for composition. Singers Rajesh Payal Rai, Karma Galjen Bomjan, Suraj Kumar Thapa and Himal Sagar were nominated along with Tilak in the Best Modern Singer category. 'Voice' won the award from 'Undefined' in the Best Band category . Avaya and the Steam Engines, Axis, Monkey Temple and The Age Band were nominated in this category.
Suwani Moktan won the award for best pop singer from 'Bani'. Other singers in this category were Trishala Gurung, Trishna Gurung, Melina Mainali and Prashna Shakya. Sushant KC won the best pop singer award for the famous song 'Sarangi'. Sameer Shrestha, Sabin Rai, Apurva Tamang and Naveen K Bhattarai were nominated in this category along with Sushant. Swapna Suman and Sameer Shrestha won the 'People's Choice' award from
'Je Chhau Tu'. Sushant KC (Sarangi), David Shankar (Darshan Salaam), Sujan Chapagain (Phoolthunge Rani) and Tilak Singh Pella (Ke Lat Basyo) were nominated in this category. Among these popular nominations, 'Je Chha Tu' won the award . Swapnamatra took the stage to receive the award, Sameer was absent. The winner of this award is chosen by voting.
Along with Indian singer Pawan, other Nepalese singers also performed in the program. Artists Rachna Rimal, Badri Pangeni, Sushant Ghimire, Sugam Pokhrel, Anu Chaudhary and Himal Sagar performed. Similarly, comedian Sita Neupane presented a stand-up comedy.
