Tenders have been called again for the Ghorahi-Tulsipur road, which has been stalled for a long time. Earlier, the road, which was started with the conditional loan assistance of the Indian Exim Bank, was not completed and stalled.

The contract was canceled after no progress was made even after the expiry of the contractual period . Now, with the investment of the Nepal government, the contract has been signed for the upgrading of the road area. The Madan Bhandari Highway Project Directorate under the Road Department has invited bids for the upgrading of the road on Thursday.

Bids have been invited to widen and upgrade the 21.58 km road from Ghorahi to Tulsipur and make four lanes. Engineer Deep Barahi, Director of Madan Bhandari Highway Project Directorate, informed that the road will be upgraded from DK Pump in Ghorahi to Hattikhowa in Tulsipur. He said that the plan is to complete the construction in three years.

Earlier, the loan agreement between Nepal government and India's Export Import (Exim) Bank was signed on 14th January 2075 and the construction of the road started. There was a plan to build 28.19 km road from Babai Khola in Ghorahi to Tulsipur. It was planned to construct 6.53 km two lane from Babai to Ghorahi Bazar, 4.05 km four lane from Ghorahi to Thapachok Sarra, 3.5 km two lane from Thapa Chowk to Narayanpur, 2.1 km four lane from Narayanpur to Khaira, 3.7 km two lane from Khaira to Dudharas and 8.31 km four lane from Dudharas to Tulsipur .

The deadline was extended,
In the beginning, there was an agreement to build the road by Baisakh 29, 2077. After it was not completed on time, the deadline was extended till 6th June 2078. Then the deadline was extended to 27 July 2078. After that, the deadline was extended again until 19th January 2078. The deadline has been extended again till 29th of May 2079 . Even after extending the deadline, when the work was not done, the deadline was extended again till 31st June 2080 .

A tender has been called again for the Ghorahi-Tulsipur road, which has been stalled for a long time

Even though the deadline for road construction has been extended five times, the physical progress is 9.69 and the economic progress is 14.23  It was only a percentage. The road construction budget was 1 crore 21 lakh 82 thousand 301 US dollars. Now the length of the road has been reduced and upgraded. Earlier it was under the Lamhi-Ghorahi-Tulsipur road from Kuirepani to Tulsipur but now it is only from Ghorahi Bazar to Tulsipur Bazar.

Pravin Brahmdev Pandey, Managing Director of Fact Engineering and Infra Project, the main Indian contractor at that time, went to see the road only once. At other times he was not seen on the streets, nor did the men he appointed work . The people he gave responsibility were changed eight times. Subas Shrestha, Anup Pandey, Janak Dangi, again Anup Pandey, Ekendra Khadka and Vijay Pathak waved their hands on the street and left. Finally, from February 26, 2078, Roshan Shrestha of Shrestha Construction did the road construction. Then finally, Sushiljung Rayamazhi took the responsibility of working . Then the contract itself was canceled .

At that time, there was a provision that the main contractor would be Indian . Because of this, time was spent changing one contractor after another. The main contractor had given it to other people . Transport professionals say that they hope that the dead road will be built now.  They believe that since

is being built in Nepal's budget, it will be easy. Suresh Hamal, president of Trisidweshwari Transport Pvt. He said that there is a risk of accidents when the road is left undone and there are holes in the middle.

The district traffic police office has informed that 25 people have died in accidents since the construction of the four-lane road started. The office has informed that 59 accidents have occurred and 81 vehicles have been involved since the demolition of the road started in the name of four-lane construction. 94 people were injured in the accident.
