From July to May of the current fiscal year, 177,260 kilos of avocados worth 786,680,000 rupees have been imported from Uganda. According to the data of the customs department, revenue of 2 crore 52 lakh 72 thousand rupees has been raised from this in 11 months. According to this, the price of imported avocado is 587 per kg.

Avocados were being sold at Rs 686 per kg at the Anamnagar branch of Bhatbhateni last Tuesday. On the same day, imported avocados were sold at Shantinagar at Bigmart at Rs 740 per kg and local avocados at Rs 420 per kg. It was Rs 799 per kg in 'Online Vegetable Shop'. In other fruit shops, it was more than 600 rupees.

Since there is no season, the price of imported avocados available in the market is more than 600 rupees. Although avocados are harvested from July to November in Nepal, the main season is August and October. The book 'Commercial Avocado Production Techniques' published by the Center for Temperate Horticulture states that there are many benefits of eating avocados, which contain sufficient amounts of healthy fats and carbohydrates. 

 Avocado, which started commercial cultivation from Dhankuta, has now expanded to other parts of the country. Currently, about 7,000 people are cultivating avocado commercially in Dhankuta, while about 300 people are running avocado nurseries. According to the book 'Commercial Avocado Production Techniques' released by Temperate Horticulture Centre, commercial cultivation of avocados in Nepal started a few years ago. It is mentioned in the book that around the year 035, five varieties of avocados were introduced in Kirtipur, Trishuli, Sarlahi horticultural farms, namely Haas, Furte, Itinger, Reed and Topatopa. 

After the establishment of Pakhribas Agricultural Research Center in 2028, some fruits were brought from the United States (UK) for tourists and employees to eat. In this way, the variety of castes brought by Nepalese to different places at different times can also be seen in the Karesabari of every house in the main city including Kathmandu. Dhankuta has been declared as the capital of 'Avocado' in 075, as the most avocado is cultivated. But the farmer says that there is still not enough study about the varieties of avocado and the treatment of diseases. Avocado markets are Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan and other areas. 

According to Krishi Gyan Kendra Dhankuta, only 23 hectares of the cultivated area of ​​130 hectares in the district was productive in the previous financial year. 260 tons of avocados were produced from it. According to the center, avocado was cultivated on 132 hectares of land last financial year. Most of the country's avocados are imported from Uganda. There is data from the customs department that avocados are imported from India, Kenya, and Mexico. 

In the financial year 077/78, 113,758 kilos of avocados worth 35.5 million rupees were imported into the country from India, Kenya and Uganda. In the financial year 078/79, 284 thousand 259 kilos were imported from Kenya, Mexico, Uganda worth 81 million 149 thousand rupees. Last fiscal year, 258,628 kilos of avocados worth 944578 thousand rupees were imported from Kenya and Uganda.
