The Greater Rushmoor Nepali Community (GRNC) celebrated International Women's Day in the UK. GRNC UK President Leela Seling Mabo informed that Women's Day was celebrated at The Palace in Aldershot on Saturday in collaboration with Rushmoor Borough Council. She said that for the first time, Women's Day was celebrated with the support and cooperation of the local Rushmoor Borough Council.
Experts from various fields gave special presentations on social issues such as mental health, domestic violence reduction, child safety and crime control at the event. The event also included various sports, cultural dance, musical performances and raffle draws for children, said the organization's secretary Prajesh Shrestha.
The event, which was celebrated with the slogan 'Give to Gain', was attended by Rushmoor Mayor Callum Stuart and MP Alex Baker. Similarly, Deputy Leader and Councillor Sophie Porter, County Councillors Alex Crawford, Jennifer Evan, former Mayor Mara Makunura, current and former councillors, chairpersons and representatives from the Nepali and non-Nepali communities were present.
GRNC Chair Mabo said that the program has been made different and more inclusive than in the past.
