The Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu, which has been issuing important tourism advisories since the travel season, has this time issued five dos and don'ts for its citizens who want to visit Nepal.

The holiday notice issued on Wednesday on the eve of the English New Year also targets the Chinese traditional New Year, the Spring Festival (February 17).

The Chinese Embassy in Nepal has issued a security alert for Chinese citizens in Nepal or planning to travel to Nepal to ensure a safe and smooth holiday. Most Chinese people prefer to travel abroad during the Spring Festival, which is considered the longest holiday in China.

According to the advice, it has been asked to be aware of visas and destinations, immigration policies, travel risks and local regulations, and has been warned not to seek a wife in Nepal, travel illegally through Nepal to India, exchange currency, use drones without permission, engage in prostitution or drugs.

According to the Shanghai Enterprises Going Global Comprehensive Service Platform and Chinese media, it has been asked to apply for a visa in advance for free on the website of the Nepal Immigration Department and to be informed about Nepal's policies and regulations and the situation of your destination. Similarly, it is recommended to carefully observe immigration regulations, self-declare five thousand US dollars or foreign currency, and strictly adhere to the limits related to gold and silver items.

It is also recommended to respect local customs and traditions, be aware of Nepal's complex road conditions and irregular traffic, be prepared for the possibility of Nepalese flights being delayed, travel through a reputable travel agency, and purchase insurance. It is also recommended to take group travel, training, insurance, and the accompaniment of qualified local guides when participating in high-risk tourism activities, including mountain trekking, and to update relatives about their travel safety.

The embassy has advised not to blindly trust illegal matchmaking agencies that find wives in Nepal, and has warned about the problems of human trafficking and child marriage.

The Nepal-India border is open. However, Chinese citizens cannot travel to India visa-free via Nepal. China has asked to pay attention to this as India will impose strict penalties for illegal entry, and has asked to be careful of being cheated as private currency exchange in Nepal is a criminal offense.

It has been advised to never use drones without permission and to seek prior permission from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation if necessary. Among the five things not to do, it has been warned not to engage in gambling, prostitution or drugs. China has urged its citizens to abide by the laws of both China and Nepal.
