Nepali singing and dancing competition in the US, first place winner gets $3,000

The organizers have stated that the competition was organized to attract children from the Nepali community born in the United States towards Nepali art and culture.

Arya Khanal, 13, of Columbus, and Khushi Adhikari, 13, of Columbus, have been declared the winners of a singing competition held among Nepali talents living in seven cities in the United States.

 

Talents from Columbus, Akron, Cincinnati in Ohio and Harrisburg, Lancaster, Pittsburgh and Scranton in Pennsylvania, which have a large Nepali population, participated . These talents, who gathered in Akron, Ohio, organized by the Intra National Welfare and Support Foundation of America, participated in the competition held on December 20 and 21.

Digant Gurung from Cincinnati and Ayusa Chapagain from Lancaster came second in singing and in dancing . Kunjan Subedi from Columbus won third prize in singing and Samantha Chhetri from Harrisburg won third prize in dancing .

The foundation's president, Dilli Adhikari, said that it has been continuously working for 10 years to attract children and teenagers from the Nepali community born and raised in America to Nepali art and culture. He said that everyone's support is expected in the campaign to pass on Nepali culture, which has not been abandoned even after being expelled from Bhutan.

Foundation is running seven Nepali dance and music classes in seven cities. 1,300 Nepali children and teenagers are studying in these classes.

In this competition, named 'Inter School Dance and Singing Competition 2025', the first place winner in solo singing, solo dancing and group dancing received a prize of 3,000 US dollars, while the second place winner received 2,000 and the third place winner received 1,000 US dollars.

Famous Nepali singers Anju Panta and Sujata Barma and singer Arjun Rasaili were the judges for the singing section, while famous Nepali film hero Dilip Rayamajhi, actress Saranga Shrestha and choreographer Aarti Sharma were the judges for the dance section. According to program coordinator Chandra Parajuli, 22 people from seven cities competed in the singing category, while 34 people and 6 groups competed in the group dance category.
