Santosh Kunwar has been elected as the president of NRNA Australia. Outgoing general secretary Kunwar won the post of president by defeating the president's candidates Bhairav Dhakal and Sanjeev Gorkhali Dhakal.
NRNA Australia conducted online elections in six states and two territories on Saturday. Out of about 16 thousand votes, 13 thousand 701 votes were cast.
According to Dilli Dhakal, the head of the Election Commission, Kunwar from Queensland, who was elected as the president, got 6,839 votes, while the other two candidates for the presidency, Dhakal from Perth, got 3,727 votes and Gorkhali Dhakal from Darbin got 2,125 votes. Kunwar will lead Australia's NRNA, which is considered strong in the international coordination committee, for two years.
According to the election results, Babin Mishra has been elected as deputy, Chunamani Sapkota as general secretary, Kalyan Khadka as secretary, and Nijan Chaulagai as treasurer. Similarly, Bishnu Tiwari, Deepak Adhikari, Deepak Basnet, Harikrishna Adhikari, Nirajan Pokharel, Rajesh KC, Sushil Pokharel and Saibal Neupane have been elected as members of the international coordination committee.
Riznu Adhikari from South Australia has been elected as the coordinator of Women's Park Australia, while Pukar Ghimire has been elected as the youth coordinator.
Ushakiran Baria Pokharel has been elected as the state coordinator of New South Wales, while Mahadev Dhanuk has been elected in Victoria, Thir Gurung in South Australia, Harivansh Sanjel in Western Australia, Trilochan Sapkota in the Northern Territory and Lalit Malla has been elected as the coordinator in the Australian Capital Territory. Earlier, Atul Khadka in Queensland and Susan Wagle in Tasmania were elected unopposed. Kunwar, who won the presidency, promised to create a common NRNA for everyone and work together with everyone for the community.
