The 20th Nepali Fair has started in Paris with dance performances reflecting the costumes and culture of different tribes of Nepal and various Nepali dishes.
The Nepali Cultural House has organized this fair to promote Nepal in the park where there is a huge statue of Buddha located in Beau de Vansen Park in Paris. Hundreds of French and Nepalis have participated in the two-day fair from Saturday.
Kathmandu Valley's original festival of Kumari's Rath as well as Lakhe Nach attracted Nepali and French people. The French said that the Nepali dishes like mum, pani roti, dalbhat, sellroti, chanachtapte, pakoda, laddu, panipuri, pickles reminded them of their trip to Nepal .
French and Nepalese who have acquired special knowledge about Nepal to promote the various regions of Nepal and promote tourism, made presentations on more than half a dozen topics including Tamang culture, Rolwaling region, seismic risk of Nepal, Newer culture and community.
Doko, Kharpan, Dalo, Dhiki, Charkhe Ping, Nepalese food items and other handicraft items of Nepal were exhibited and sold. "As soon as I entered, I felt as if I had entered a village in Nepal," French journalist Mathieu Arafgender, who has visited Nepal seven times, told Kantipur.
The dance shown in dozens of songs such as tamang cello, jhyaure, folk song etc. had a special attraction for the French . The evening was organized by Sukarma Sangeet Group.
Inaugurating the Nepali Fair, Sudhir Bhattarai, the Nepalese ambassador in Paris, invited the French to visit Nepal, saying that there are 142 tribal communities in Nepal and 124 languages are spoken. He mentioned that the geographical, social and cultural diversity of Nepal and the hospitality of the Nepali people are outstanding and unique in the world.
