Adelaide Nepali School in Australia has celebrated its tenth anniversary through a special ceremony held at Parliament House.
In the program, South Australian Government's Multicultural and Tourism Minister Joe Bettison praised the Nepali community in Australia as being educated and aware. Stating that language and culture play an important role in shaping confident youth, she said the students of Adelaide Nepali School are building a strong foundation for the future and embracing their heritage with pride.
The continuous dedication of dedicated teachers, volunteers, parents and community members has been an exemplary work in the field of language and culture, says Bettison. On the occasion, she also unveiled the exercise book published by the school.
Manju Khadka, a member of the South Australian Government's Multicultural Commission, expressed her happiness over the school's progress. The program was attended by school students, volunteer teachers, South Australian Government Department of Home Affairs and representatives of multilingual schools.
Nepali language schools run with the financial support of the Australian government have been teaching about various Nepali festivals, Nepali lifestyle as well as Nepali national culture. The school was started in 2015 from 21 people with the aim of passing on the passion for Nepali language and literature and the culture of Nepali language to their children.
In recent times, the promotion of Nepali language culture and its transfer to the second generation has become a challenge for Nepali expatriates. Because of this, the study and teaching of Nepali language is increasing in all the states and regions of Australia where there is a large presence of the Nepali community.
