Demand to arrange legal arrangements for the implementation of non-resident Nepali citizenship

The Non-Resident Nepali Association has demanded that legal arrangements be made for the implementation of citizenship.

The association has demanded for the implementation of non-resident Nepali citizenship with social, cultural and economic rights as stipulated in Article 14 of the Constitution.

With the conclusion of the '10th Asia Pacific Regional Conference-2025' held in Cambodia on February 5th and 6th, it has been demanded before the government of the union. For this, the union has demanded that the necessary legal arrangements be made quickly and the Non-Resident Nepalese Act be implemented with amendments.

"This conference demands the Nepal government to take necessary legal arrangements and initiatives for the identity cards of more than 500,000 Nepalese and foreign citizens of Nepali origin who are in Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Fiji, Cambodia and other countries," said the conclusion of the conference issued by the association.

In addition, the association has demanded to arrange the implementation of the order given by the Supreme Court on 7th Chait 2074 to give voting opportunities to Nepalis abroad.  The

conference was attended by the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, Cambodia's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Yun Kehang, former Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Padam Giri, former Minister Eknath Dhakal and other officials of the National and International Coordination Council.

In addition, the association has also requested to build and coordinate necessary mechanisms for the easy use of the knowledge, skills, technology and experience of Nepalese who are abroad and who have returned from foreign employment to contribute to the development of Nepal. According to the association, more than 300 representatives from 30 countries are present at the

conference. A conference was organized on the issue of increasing the involvement of the immigrant community of Nepal by solving the problems of non-resident Nepalis through policy reform and parliamentary contributions.
