The current situation of Nepali journalism in Texas, USA has been discussed. The Nepali American Journalists Association (NEJA), a joint organization of Nepali journalists in the US, discussed the current situation of Nepali journalism and Nepali media in the interaction on 'Journalist Code of Conduct, Global Practices and Use in Nepali Media'.

During the interaction, Balkrishna Basnet, President of Press Council Nepal, expressed his opinion about the problems seen in the Nepali media in recent years, the difference between content creators and journalists, the work being done by the council and the plans to be carried out in the future, as well as the role of the media of powerful countries in the world and the use of those media. In recent years, the council has started to increase the monitoring of the social and family content created by YouTube to a certain extent.

He claimed that the use of code of ethics in Nepali journalism is increasing while answering the question about the problems seen in the Nepali media. "Recently, the media has started to open up in Nepal after the media, the council has started a new procedure to regulate it," he said, "The council is also monitoring the use of AI started by the Nepali media. The Nepali media is also following the use of technology by the media in developed countries, and this is also helping in fact checking.'

council chairman Basnet opined that there are some problems due to the perception that ordinary journalists wrote some false and ineffective information. He also claimed that it is necessary for the council to bring a new concept and explain the difference between journalists and content creators in Nepal. In the

program, journalist Vinay Guragain submitted a paper on the overall situation of journalism in the world, the use of technology, the role to be played by the Council in Nepal. He said that some new dimensions have been added to Nepali journalism in the present situation. "The big media houses of Nepal are using technology a lot, that's why the understanding of the role of the media is increasing among the Nepali people," he said. NEZA president Suraj Bhandari informed that there are currently around 300 journalists in America and Canada and NEZA is coordinating with Nepali journalists from the two countries.

Looking at the situation for a decade, he said that Nepali language media is growing in America. He said that currently more than 50 online news portals are actively operating in the US and Nepali language newspapers have been closed after Covid and NEZA is taking initiatives to re-operate them. He also expressed his gratitude for the support and cooperation of Nepali community leaders towards Nepali journalists in foreign lands. Sanjay Ghimire, the advisor of Neza, suggested that the council should continue to monitor the media that operate only using new technology. He opined that the council should not hesitate to take the ultimate action against such media as there has been some chaos in the Nepali media recently.
