Holi festival is celebrated in South Australia with great fanfare. Thousands of Nepalis celebrated Holi by painting each other with colors and exchanging greetings at the festival organized in a local park.
The Holi Festival organized by the local social organization Adelaide Nepal every year was held at Mitchell Park this year. The main attraction of the festival with Nepali food dishes were artists from Nepal. Pashupati Sharma and Chakra Bam participated from Nepal. In addition, artists including local DJs also provided entertainment through songs, music and dance.
Even in the heat of 36 degrees, there were thousands of parents and children who came from Nepal to celebrate Holi . In the festival, not only Nepali people but people from different multicultural communities participated. In recent times, this event has gained more publicity and importance after the local Marion Council awarded it as 'Community Event of the Year'. Pushkar Koirala of the organizing organization said that through the festival, the aim is to maintain mutual brotherhood and to promote their original culture and festival in migration.
