Nepali Ambassador to the UK Chandrakumar Ghimire has met with the Assistant Foreign Minister for Indo-Pacific Affairs Catherine West. According to the embassy, various issues including political, economic, educational and development of bilateral interest were discussed in the 45-minute long meeting held in his office on Tuesday.
Ambassador Ghimire told that there is an action plan to give priority to economic and political diplomacy during his tenure. Ambassador Ghimire also discussed the problems related to ex-Gorkhas.
Ghimire stressed for more British support in the development of Nepal and asked the UK to initiate a high-level political visit to Nepal with the Prime Minister.
Ambassador Ghimire related the story of Prince Edward of the United Kingdom (UK), who is currently visiting Nepal, and reminded that although the British royal family is visiting, the Prime Minister has not visited Nepal even 209 years after the establishment of diplomatic relations between Britain and Nepal.
Minister West recently Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala said in an interaction about 'Nepal-UK relations' that the British Prime Minister said that the right time had come to visit Nepal and she would take the initiative.
