Saraswati Gurung, member of the Gandaki State Assembly, who is currently visiting the UK, has been honored in London. Gandaki Province MP Gurung was honored by Tamu Samaj UK at its own Nepali Community Center on Saturday.

Society President Vindukumari Gurung and Founder President Chitra Bahadur Gurung welcomed MP Gurung by honoring him with a silver plaque and food garland. Member of Parliament Gurung thanked the society for the warm welcome and gave Tamu Samaj UK an eye window carved with a statue of Buddha brought from Nepal. In the formal program, Gurung said that she will take initiatives to solve the former British Gurkha problem as far as she can. She assured that she will continue the initiative in the demand for continuation of Nepali citizenship of her descendants. In the program, Shubh Ghale, the general secretary of the society, gave information about the personality of MP Gurung.

Kwonne (Ghotane/Ghonde) Gurung (Tamu) Member of Parliament who came to UK at the invitation of UK Society has intensified her meetings with the Nepali diaspora here. She reached the construction site of 'Commonwealth and Gorkha Garden' at Garrison Church Hata in London Woolwich on Saturday morning and took information about the progress of Chautara construction. MP Gurung said that the Gorkha Chautara, which is going to be built in London, will be a symbol of Nepalese bravery.

Mentioning the historical and multifaceted relationship between Britain and Nepal, she also expressed the hope that Gorkha Chautara would help establish the same history and Nepali identity. MP Gurung met Nepali Ambassador in London Chandrakumar Ghimire, Royal Borough of Greenwich Mayor Councilor Jit Ranabhat and discussed the Nepali community and their concerns. She also visited the British Parliament building and got information about the parliamentary practice here.
